Ali's wins over Foreman, Frazier and Liston are far more impressive than any of Mayweather's wins.

    Why ?!
Liston was older than stated, barely trained, had a shoulder injury and took a dive.
Ali should have been deducted points for excessive holding and the way he kept holding/pushing Frazier's head in their rematch. And by the time of their 3rd fight, Frazier was almost completely blind in one eye.
    And Foreman gassed out.

I don't think they agreed terms. From memory PBF wanted 60-40 and Winky 50-50.

    They did agree terms.

Then Mayweather and Arum changed them. They clearly didn't want the fight.

SRR and Armstrong are unquestionably greater than Floyd I'd say. Charles is pretty clearly ahead too. I know that Greb, Fitz and Langford did insane things, but feel I don't know enough to evaluate them more precisely. Same with Gans.

RJJ, Ali, Louis, SRL, Pep, Duran and Pac all have an argument to be ahead, but think you can argue both ways. Napoles is probably in the discussion, but don't know enough about him, and I think Whitaker has a case as well.

Off this topic but just a quick question. What about Mayweathers performances do you not think qualifies him to be in the upper tier? Forget personality/likability. Say what you want but he fought the best at his weight classes the only thing he missed out on was a prime Pac but to me that was more on Pac then May. The man embarrassed almost everyone he fought. Even as an old man. Corrales, Cotto, JMM, Alvarez, Delahoya, Hatton, Pac, Zab, Mosley and a few others isn’t a bad list of good wins with zero losses. Especially considering the way he won.

The win over Corrales was the one he really looked like a top 10 ATG. The wins over Castillo and DLH weren't super convincing. I think he lost the first to Castillo, the rematch was clear but uninspiring and the same against a past prime DLH imo.

Pac was also a boring safety first win, and the IV business robbed it of most of its luster. Can't come to think of any other time where someone has cheated so blatantly and got away with it. Maybe Margo-Cotto, but don't think too many count that one.

He boxed in a weak era and fought opponents at the right time.

Cotto and Judah were overrated, Mosley was old, Hatton was one-dimensional, Canelo was too young, and Pac was also out of his prime and had a shoulder injury. ODH is not an all time great yet an old version of him almost beat prime Mayweather.

Had Mayweather been in the same era as Duran, SRL, and Hearns then he would have multiple losses on his record. Chavez Jr also beats him prime for prime.

Top 40 of all time? Yes. Top 20 of all time? No.

Agree to disagree. Truth of the matter is you can’t show me any fighter in history that was able to hit and not be hit as good as Mayweather. The stats of the modern era back that up...by a wide margin no less. Cotto and Zab also weren’t overrated. Good fighters. He embarrassed Delahoya and Pac and when he fought Alvarez he was old. And he beat him easily. No one would have batted an eye if he avoided that fight at the time.

Mayweather isn't the best defensive boxer of all time. The most overhyped? Probably.

I never said Judah and Cotto were not good fighters. Both were overrated though.

He didn't embarrass ODH at all. It was actually a very close fight that Mayweather only just won.
