If Usyk decides to stand flat-footed in the phone booth with Tua exchanging left hooks then Tua wins. Otherwise, Usyk all day.
Usyk by wide UD. Remember, Chris Byrd easily beat IN-SHAPE version of Tua, not the fat version that Lewis fought? Byrd schooled him and Chris was smaller than Usyk
90s Tua is by the far the best version. It was all downhill after he lost to Lewis. Kevin Barry has been a terrible money stealing trainer long before he was with Joseph Parker. Usyk has the tools to beat Tua but he's far from shown that in HW with his one win over Chisora.
Usyk would throw loads of non damaging puny jabs and rack up the score cards with a UD. Tua would leave the ring and go to kfc afterwards.
It was downhill after he started eating in Andy Ruiz Jr' style, which has happened after the Ibeabuchi fight. He was very fat for Lewis fight which is ridiculous considering the fact that it was by far the biggest fight of his career. He slimmed down to 233 lbs for Byrd and looked in good shape in that fight. Still it wasn't enough to catch Chris who, while being a small HW himself and very weak puncher, was much more skilled comparing to Tua. That's the reason why I go with Usykj in this fight - he is much more skilled fighter of the two. Yes, he didn't look impressive against Chisora, but Derek has some advantages over Tus. Surely, he doesn't have Tua's incredible power, but he is much taller and actually cut the ring better than David did
David has a big punch and could be a quick starter, but Usyk has taken big punches when he has to though and at his best likely boxes to a decision win using the jab with his movement and workrate.
Tua would eventually catch Usyk like Gassiev did, but in a more powerful way of course. It would rock Usyk and then Tua would go for the kill. Tua by KO.
Depends on what shape Tua comes in. If it’s the 250lb Lewis version of Tua, USYK wins very wide 120- 108. If it’s the 230lb version of Tua then again I pick Usyk wide UD, but Tua would be dangerous over the first 4-6 rounds.
Poundshop Usyk Chris Byrd did the business and he wasn't exactly a big puncher, not the best chin either. Tua was the Samoan Tyson: a bit shorter/stubbier, much slower and less explosive but sturdier and not insane.
Too early in Usyk's HW run to make any firm prediction but if I had to choose I'd go with the boxer over the puncher
Byrd didn’t easily beat Tua, that’s a gross exaggeration. That fight was close and could’ve reasonably be scored either way.
No, it couldn't be scored any other way. I had Byrd winning the fight 117-111, all judges also scored the fight in his favor in spite of Tua being a HUGE favourite and having more attractive style
This is not conceivable. There is nothing in Tua's career that points to him being blown out by a boxer, Chisora would be neither the best boxer, nor heaviest handed opponent Tua has faced. On top of this, he'd have to contend with Tua's incoming and I doubt he could. Tua would stop Chisora brutally. Back to the original topic: Usyk would dominate Tua and make him look foolish. Tua wouldn't be able to catch up to Usyk.
Tua finds Usyk and ends it early. The Byrd comparisons are not apt. While both Byrd and Usyk are slick boxers, there style is very different. Byrd used bending combined with slick movement to slip punches. Byrd was in the pocket one moment and behind you the next. Usyk is very upright and uses mostly his quick legs, and a high guard as his defense. Usyk takes a few rounds to figure out his opponents timing. It's that uprightness and that figuring out period that will be his undoing against the murderous left hook of Tua. The fight will look more like Tua vs Moorer than it will Tua vs Byrd. Tua also carries his power late, so even a come from behind stoppage is not out of the question.
