Where do you rank Mayweather if he stayed retired in 2009 and never came back?

I ask because most casuals give Floyd hardly any credit for his biggest fights after 2010, although to me these were some of his best wins.

Mosely was washed up (despite coming off the biggest win of his career against one of the most feared and hyped up fighters)

Cotto was washed up (despite going on to win a MW title)

CAnelo was too green (despite having more professional fights than Floyd when they fought, and despite being a reigning champion with several defenses already under his belt)

Manny was crippled with a hurt shoulder (despite Manny throwing everything he had anytime he could actually get Floyd in a corner or on the ropes)

So there, let's take all these wins and toss them in the garbage. Say May retired for good after decapitating Ricky Hatton in 2008.....how does his legacy stands as is?

An ATG, but not TBE etc.

He really missed making a serious legacy by taking 2008 off.

How much more could he have done in that one year? I know the 2 main guys he didn't fight that would add to his resume were Paul Williams and Margarito.

    Top 50 but no higher.

    Same as now.

    Massively overrated.

Casual fan refers to real fans as casuals. Sounds like a Mayweather fan.

Ok real fan, can you just answer the question though? It's pretty straightforward, any 'real fan' should be able to properly rate a given fighter

I am no fan of his .....simply did not like his attitude. { My complete selfish bias}. But......perhaps the greatest defensive fighter that most of us will ever see. Did he ever get hit with two straight shots? I love the brawlers but he did he put on some clinics. Someone smarter than me might know-----How many rounds did he lose in his last ten fights? Much like Roy Jones he dismantled and humbled some darn good fighters. Again, we always think offense , but 1/2 the battle is not getting hit. Who did it better? Benitez? Whitaker. ? In due time I believe he will be more favorably judged.

Zulu-----this is a good forum. Grow up

We don’t need Mayweather fanboy threads so no, I won’t answer the question.

    About the same.

A truly great 130lber....maybe the best the division had seen. A good champion at lightweight (though a change in style) somewhat disappointing performances though he kept winning.
A very good/great Welterweight. Became more economical but effective, always in good condition. Smarltly managed.

Overall he is an alltime great boxer.. with that said he was at the best @130lbs when he threw punches.

I wouldn't rank him as high as I do now, which is top 15 all time, perhaps even top 10
