Is it possible is Montiel is better than thought?

Montiel is gonna wind up seriously hurt if he don't develop some evasive skills. He was just a punching bag in there and just like a punching bag, you can beat it until you get so tired that it could swing back and knock you down. Montiel didn't show me anything except that maybe he should look for another career. Nothing wrong with Charlo, he is still the best middleweight out there.

Beating chenko worse than jacobs and ggg says otherwise.

I'm interested in seeing who he fights next. With his performance last night networks will no doubt want him on their cards.

How exactly did he beat Derevyanchenko better? I'm truly at a loss here. I know that's the "official" story scorecards wise. But you also know that PBC cards frequently aren't fair, especially when involving a Charlo. I get it, he's your hometown guy, but a little objectivity once in a while might be nice. He lost to Trout, lost to Korobov, barely beat or drew with Derevyanchenko. It should also be noted, fighters when involved with a series of wars, have a tendency to degrade quite quickly. I mean, do you really think Conor Benn is better than Errol Spence Jr, Danny Garcia and Vergil Ortiz Jr? Well.... he did beat Sammy Vargas far easier.:deal: Regardless, Sergiy was coming off of three back to back to back wars, against GGG, Culcay and Jacobs, that can't be good for one's health. Yet Charlo couldn't even drop him. One other thing, is doing roughly the same as an old past it Golovkin and a Jacobs on the decline really something to brag about?

And that's what is the most important isn't it? In fact , give him a W-12 for his efforts.

Definitely, at the very least, he can become a Salido like must see fighter. Win r lose, he brings the excitement. Check out his match against Centeno he deserved the nod, and had it gone one round longer, he'd have won by KO. He had Centeno out on his feet in the 10th. Also, it showed just how improved he'd become as a fighter.

Maybe we should give credit to Montiel for giving Charlo a hard fight. It happens. Not every elite fighter blazed through every opponent. Most times they struggle w/ lesser opponents anyway.

He didn't lose to Trout or Korobov though. You thought he did but that doesn't mean it actually happened. Sometimes you can be biased against fighters you dont like personally on your rbr cards, especially against guys you pick to lose. Charlo had a easier time with chenko than ggg or jacobs did. He hurt chenko more and won more rounds. They both scored early knockdown on chenko but if not they would both have a L against chenko. Imo even with the kd a great case can be made chenko beat ggg, he hurt and had ggg in more distress than even canelo or Jacobs did.

I like chenko I picked him to beat jacobs I wish he could have somehow made 154 he could have dominated that weightclass no one beats him there.

Yeah, I can be slightly biased at times, especially with fighters I'm not fond of, so you can use that excuse with me occasionally. However, when the general consensus was that he got a gift against Korobov and Trout, especially with the more intelligent scorers, it's a general consensus for a reason. Same goes with the Derevyanchenko match, while the general consensus was that Chalo won, most only had it for him by a point, also, the amount of people who scored it a draw wasn't negligible. Same goes for GGG i the opposite direction, most of the people who thought Derevyanchenko deserved the nod, were GGG haters, at best it was a draw without the knockdown, and I was being unbiased, because I like both. Jacobs though should have lost, that being said, I thought Jacobs also lost to Rosado and Sulecki, so.... Jacobs isn't the guy he used to be. So... I think we could at least probably agree here, bot the GGG adn Charlo matches were damn close, with a lot of rounds that were hard to score, which means, we're probably going to see it in favor of the guy we like more.... even if it is by a hair, because Sergiy is such a badass.

Also, styles make fights, and let's be honest, Charlo's style for Sergiy is far harder to deal with than GGG's.

They both appear to have come on a lot.

    As you'd expect.

Derevyanchenko made it a close fight by fighting like a madman while Charlo was on cruise control.

Montiel didn't accomplish much, but it was a little weird to see Charlo go all out and a guy who's already been KO'd was able to survive. A more methodical approach probably would have worked, but I also wonder about the weight.

I’m not saying Charlo sucks. He’s just not that good in regards to how he is painted. He’s supposedly this great fighter at 160, according to his fans, himself and the opportunities he gets on the big name networks.
Those are just alright names to me. I see no Canelo, Golovkin or Jacobs. Maybe I should have been more clear.

While watching the fight I was thinking if Charlo can't get rid of a fighter this wobbled even a 40 year old Gennady Golovkin will bust him up.
