As any sort of comparison between the two of them, yes.

To put it in perspective, Tyson beat a probably worse version of Holmes than Lewis did of Tyson. He was also closer to his peak when he faced Holmes than Lewis was when he faced Tyson.

Can't really see the arguments for Mike myself. What do you think they are?

Um, he flat out lost to spinks and demanded a rematch what are you talking about?
Holmes fought the dangerous Earnie Shavers twice. He fought spinks twice, the 2nd one after losing the first match. Fought weaver twice.

    Fun Facts:
Other than Williams, who was denied his owed rematch against Holmes, every man Tyson beat during his title run in the 80s either won a heavyweight title or Olympic Gold. That's 9 men.

Holmes, during his title run, only beat 6 men who won a heavyweight title and/or Olympic Gold in a boxing ring. Tyson, coincidentally, beat two of those men and a third was a Parkinsonian, Thyrolar riddled Ali, which doesn't count for much.

Tyson no longer had that amazing head movement and defense in the 90s, his win over Bruno doesn't change that.
Before the Holyfield fight, Tyson only had a couple of rounds of fighting in 4 years. Inactivity takes it's toll on everyone.

I already acknowledged that I forgot Shavers due to the gap between fights and lack of necessity. It was basically a cherry pick. Spinks granted Holmes a rematch. You've got that backwards, chief.

I never said he was nor was that the argument. I was just dispelling the notion that Tyson suffered three losses in his prime as said by one poster. It’s at best simply not true and more likely disingenuous.

I think in this thread, their are exaggerations on both sides.

This honestly seems to be less Holmes-Tyson and more Tyson fans-Tyson detractors.

I’m not much of a Tyson fan. I think he sexually assaulted Washington and lies about it to this day.

But Tyson was 80s heavyweight boxing, not Holmes.
