As I stated previously, Mayweather's accuracy and timing was at least on par with and most likely far superior to anything Hearns had faced before.
While the shorter SRL who was also not regarded as a power puncher was able to both outbox and outfight prime Hearns at different points of their fight, I think Mayweather could do so by relying on his superior timing and accuracy, whereas SRL relied more on his hand speed and combos....
Like SRL, I see Floyd taking Hearns into deep waters, where Floyd has typically gotten stronger and where I have seen Hearns fade in some fights.
SRL had Hearns on rubber giraffe legs from exhaustion almost as much as anything else, I don't see any reason why Floyd couldn't do the same

Mayweather wouldn't have the power to stop Hearns late on anyway. Even if Hearns tired.

I never professed he would KO Hearns, I simply stated he would make for a competitive fight and he should not be written off.

But Hearns could be knocked out all the same, he proved that multiple times across multiple weight classes. You people are trying to make him out be some kind of invincible force and that simply was not the case at the elite level, which Floyd Mayweather most certainly is

Is there really a problem with saying they were all great fighters? Lol if someone picks Mayweather it doesn’t make them a fan boy. And it’s not a shot against any of the four it’s just a nod to Mayweather in a match of two greats.

He wasn't invincible. He had weaknesses.

Mayweather just doesn't have the required skills to exploit those weaknesses.

Read what others have posted instead of spamming the same weak arguments over and over again.

Even if you state the fight would simply be highly competitive they get their panties in a bunch.
Obviously these are just youngsters who just read a lot of hype growing up. Had they actually lived through Hearns era and actually watched him fight they would understand he was just as vulnerable and just as mortal as any other fighter

That's the beauty of it....I actually watched both these guys throughout most of their careers, so I don't need to rely on what you nut hugging morons post as if it's fact

I am sure you watched both men throughout their careers.

You just don't understand what you were watching.

It's funny because anyone with a brain can tell that Barkley in shape would murder Floyd. It's why what Duran did was so special. Barkley would destroy most fighters that size.

Benitez is an okay comparison in my opinion. But you know that Duran guy I here he was a pretty crafty fighter.

He's a far closer comparison to Mayweather than anyone who Floyd fought is to Hearns. Both in style, and ability.

Yeah, he was. Although, he was terribly out of shape for that fight. Unbelievable performance from Hearns, and Duran would never beat him, but it's hard for me to use that fight as a conclusive proof of anything, when Duran was compromised (even though it was obviously his own fault).
