Naw, Loma had won this one. Still Russel Jr fight was one from 2 most watchable Loma's pro fights, next was fight vs Linares.

I watched it from the recording this morning and found myself shouting at the corner and the referee to stop a fight that ended several hours before. Brave guy Nakatani but by the end his head was target practice.

 

That was funny. I almost asked you if you were watching the same fight but suspected you were joking. My scoring was similar and I was a big GRJ fan at the time. I, wrongly, predicted GRJ would be the biggest star below lightweight (before the fight). GRJ lost but fought a good fight. I still think he mismanaged his career and could have been much more popular than he will ultimately be. Sad but that’s a topic to be explored in other threads.

These nut sakkk riders need to understand that if that fight went one more round there was a serious chance Vitali would have lose his eye and his career.

His entire legacy is built around beating overmatched bums and having his face shredded to pieces by a fat and underprepared Lewis.

 

He also showed he can be gun shy against a counterpuncher with power. Holstered his fists for 6 against Lopez. Bottom line, a Lopez rematch needs to happen, then a Tank fight.
