Mario Thomás Barrios vs. Gervontaa Davis & Erickson Lubin vs. Jeison Manuel Rosario Bаstardo RBR

He did not struggle. Barrios is good and put up a valiant effort in the biggest fight of his career. The question was how Tank would deal with the obstacles in this fight and boy we sure saw how.

 

I was rooting for tank but the early rounds were all Barrios. You talk about missing but tank was pretty inaccurate half the fight

 

You notice Calzaghe did not fight peak Jermaine Taylor or Kelly Pavlov and yes I did score the fight for B-Hop and no I am not a particular fan of his. Included my scores above.

 

As someone who's been through half of a judging course, I'm actually a lot closer to a proper judge than anyone else on the forum ( ) so my scores matter most. Obviously

I disagree. Taylor IS superior in every department. Taylor drops and hurts 140lbers consistently. Tank has created the illusion of being a big puncher fighting in a weight class small for him. Tank was getting outboxed by Barrios.. who although a very tough guy, is pretty basic and there's clearly a reason he was chosen for Tank

He's definitely special in one way. Not so sure if he'll be a special fighter with his workrate.

 

Course you scored it for Hopkins .. that's what you do .. Taylor always struggled with southpaws & his legacy at 168 isn't anything to write him about.. other than getting sparked by AA & Froch & put on his arse by Truax & a completely ruined Jeff Lacy (old Roy Jones that Joe utterly schooled did much better against him) in dull fights there's not much there.. peak Taylor was a MW. Different division. Acting like he avoided Taylor is laughable.
Calzaghe would have ****ed Taylor up. Don't give me the he beat Hopkins twice crap either, Hopkins was busting at the seams at the weight then… being 40 and trying to make 160 when you're the size of Hopkins is actually ridiculous in retrospect … Hence why he immediately jumped to light heavyweight & demonstrated he was far more effective as a fighter there .. As for Pavlik he was schooled by a small southpaw (Martinez) & embarassed by the Hoppkins Joe just beat. I doubt he'd have beat Calzaghe. You talk ****.

 

that depends if he is ever outboxed for all 12 rounds.

He is coming to KO every time.
He is literally built for it.
So Why fight it ya know?

It will take someone who will outbox him all 12 & can stand up to his counters All 12.

The thing I don’t understand as far as the criticism he receives about his power “bailing him out”. (& this is not directed at you by any means)

he is not design to out point.
The power counterpunching & maneuvering to get inside is his game & it has everything to do with the “sweet science” as keeping an opponent away at the end of your jab, circling, giving angles / “swim with out getting wet” pocket dance fighting & bike riding does…etc.

 

CST80 had Saunders ahead at the time of the stoppage and felt Canelo got lucky. The pattern I detect is he hates both Tank and Canelo. When they take the other guy out they are lucky.

 

You talk ****. I think they could have beaten Joe. Hopkins deserved the verdict against Calzaghe and Taylor beat Hopkins twice and Pavlov beat Taylor so they could have beaten Calzaghe that’s my view.

 

It was a quality fight both guys exhibited skills and gave each other issues in the early going. Tank negotiated the issues Barrios posed and then closed the show. I said all along Barrios was a very good fighter. Tank won because he is a special type of fighter cut from a different cloth. I split the early rounds between them but from the midway stage fight turned in Tank’s favour.

 

Tank chose him to take the belt and it was an easier fight to make because they are both PBC fighters.
