I see bivols style as the trickier matchup of the two personally

From what i remember, Kovalev did refuse the canelo fight initially. Too little money. He went on to win the fight he got rocked in and came in to fight Canelo a couple of months after that.

    Memory could be foggy though.

    Not likely.
Kovalev had fight vs Eleider who had beated him up really brutally in 1 very bad round for Kov, until this he looked good vs opponent.
Then Kovalev looks that had used clause to get rematch vs Eleider and had outpointed him in rematch.
Looks that this had took him approx 6 months or more.
Ofc, until he a bit? recovered from beatup and prepared for rematch.

Then Kov had belt again but he was after fight vs the same lad who had finished him, after win on cards in rematch.
Doesn't looks enough marketable, so there some title defense fight ( Yarde ) preferably should be done.

After this he had this Canelo fight.

I really think if he was after rematch vs Eleider, offer might be lesser. 1-1 vs Eleider, stoppage loss vs points win in rematch.

If you can make it the distance twice with GGG you must be a bad ass.

He deserves it for getting credit for wins he don't deserve.

He beat bums in the can division by choice. When ever he steps up for GGG he comes up short, only to be rescued by the predictable judges.

You know if it goes the distance there is no chance for anyone but Canelo. Beterbiev can only win by KO.

Because Beterbiev will be 37 years old then and just a little older, slower and less effective.

I think it will backfire though as Beterbiev is a beast of an athlete and reflexes and speed are not the key to his success; it is his pressure and power. Brute force always has longevity.

People also have to remember that Canelo isnt punching any harder now than he was at 160lbs against Golovkin. He had reduced his output and has become a counter puncher who is now planting his feet and throwing full force punches at slower and less mobile targets.

He will have success against Beterbiev until Beterbiev throws a sledgehammer as return fire and refuses to go backwards.
