    Yes he would.
Since 2009, these are the best welterweights.
T.Bradley, Paul Williams, Kell Brooks, Devon Alexander, Errol Spence, Shawn Porter, Keith Thurman, Lamont Peterson, Terrance Crawford. Please explain to me how Mayweather Jr. Didn't face at the least ONE of those fighters? Are you insinuating Conor McGregor was a bigger threat than any of those fighters?
If you don't think Mayweather Jr. picks and chooses his opponents on the bases of most money to be made with the least resistance , you haven't been paying attention.
So yes I can say with great a amount of confidence Mayweather Jr would've avoided Thomas Hearns in his prime. He would've in my opinion avoided most of the ATG's in history at the welterweight limit.
Smoke and mirrors. That's what his career has been since Lightweight. At least Pac has stepped up to the plate and fought two of them on my list. Mayweather Jr waited until Pac was damaged goods, and diminished, before he decided to fight him. Like his wins over Delahoya, Mosley, and Marquez should be seen as nothing more than smart career moves.
Is this list long enough for you?

I don’t think he was, was he?

    I’d have to check.

I don’t think he was that tall.

    I think 5’10 or 5’11.

    I never knew that.

There can’t have been many FW’s and SFW’s who were that tall.

Nonsense. Did he avoid Maidana, ODH, Zab, Corrales, Castillo, Hatton, Baldomir, Cotto, JMM, Alvarez? Am I missing something here? Pac avoided him by refusing the test and they eventually fought and it was an easy Mayweather night. He took the Alvarez fight when he certainly didn’t have to. And most people take the money it’s stupid not to. Usually the best fighters are associated with the most money anyway so it works out. But saying Mayweather would have avoided Hearns is a cop out on the argument. It’s a fantasy fight that’s happening. How would Either win is the question. I’ve felt I answered my opinion on it I’m not against anyone picking the great Hearns to win. This isn’t a hill I’d die on kind of argument. Can see Hearns knocking out anyone at that weight.

These guys are living in a fantasy.

Floyd ducked Manny for years and retired to the WWE when the WW division was hot.

He deliberately cheated JMM on the scales.

He forced Canelo to take a C-W.

Just think about those actions for a second.

Are we really supposed to believe that that same guy would have signed to have fought a prime version of Thomas Hearns, AND fought him OFFENSIVELY and AGGRESSIVELY?

    Please!

He just wasn't the take all comers type of fighter ,,, wasn't a big risk taker .. I don't understand why people try to make him out to something he's not .. We all know he doesn't get in the ring with Hearns .... TRUST ME !! , I would pay 2 grand to see that Motor City Cobra stare down , literally down, to May .. May would crap his ****ing pants same as Spinks did

One of the biggest myths in boxing is that it was the testing issue that held up a fight between Floyd and Manny.

    It wasn’t.

Every time Manny agreed to his demands, Floyd moved the goal posts.

In the end, Manny publicly agreed to every demand, including full random testing up until the day of the fight. Yet the fight still took a further 2 years to make.

That should tell anyone that the testing issue wasn’t the reason for the delay.

    The reason was simple:

His Uncle Roger had him spooked with stories of A-Side Meth etc.

He was only interested after JMM had iced him.

Then when the fight did finally happen, Floyd was the one who was taking PEDS.

You couldn’t have made it up.

He fought a faded Cotto, who’d already been bashed up by Manny and Marg.

When Cotto and Marg were prime, he was in the WWE.

He would only fight Canelo at a C-W, despite the fact that Canelo was a fellow JMW champion, and he’d already fought Oscar there.

He would never have fought a prime version of Thomas Hearns at WW or JMW.

Anybody who thinks that is absolutely deluding themselves.

A guy who wouldn’t fight a prime version of Manny, or Canelo without a C-W, was never putting his reputation and health on the line against a monster, prime ATG, who held huge advantages over him.

    It’s an absolute fantasy.
