I read it every other yr. Fires me and puts a visceral feeling of savagery in my belly. Top it off with the absolutely animalistic"SOMEBODY UP THERE LIKES ME" & hit the town
So his friend leaves for a couple hours and Jake is like.... Hey Jesus. You have met a lot of boxers did you ever meet LaMotta?
His breakdown after he got in trouble. When he was locked up. He decided to change and as he put it...."become a human being again".
In the book hes always good with his brother Joey. In the movie they switch Joey up with his then friend Salvy. Never understand why LaMotta would allow that considering how be beats the crap out of his brother in the movie. All in all book or movie. I never liked the man. Not one bit
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. I think there are some pretty serious misconceptions here about what Jake does and does not admit to in the book. Many people will claim that he admits to committing two rapes on different women. But all he basically implies is that there were two females who did not want to have intercourse with him at different times and then he had intercourse with them on those occasions anyway, because he was libidinous and they were not or were not interested in him specifically when he was libidinous and then they weren't physically capable of doing anything about it. Now, if you consider that ****, okay but I think we're really just speculating past what he was implying. I mean, dolphins basically do that and nobody calls them rapists.
Could you have? Yes, agreed he has the deep sitting eyes of a man who has spent many nights fighting with his inner demons I imagine sleep never came easy when he changed.
