Filipino’s don’t really support donaire like they did with pacquiao because donaire was raised in the US.

It’s like comparing chaves sr and oscar dela hoya. Both mexican but still different because they were raised in different countries.

Donaire is no pacquiao but hes ego is bigger than pacquiao at the moment. Why cancel the fight when you can show the world your greater than casimero in the ring.

Indeed, such could be it. There was no huge magnetic factor for The Filipino Flash. In fact IIRC, during all of their undefeated streak runs back in time, it was probably, in order: Manny Pacquiao, Brian Viloria, then Nonito Donaire. Somehow The Hawaiian Punch was more beloved than him.
