Ali got some favoritism, but it seems you accept all the wildest & least plausible accusations.

How did the tape hanging off Ali's glove help Quarry? You think Quarry could have recovered if the fight was paused?
What is the evidence that there was any bribe offered in Zaire?

I believe the rope was made for a different sized ring, that was terrible planning, not that Dundee further loosened it.
Dundee seemed not to favor Ali's strategy-until it worked.

The diuretics were given to Ali by one Dr.
Ali took them like candy: they were a large performance DE-enhancer. Ali was a Zombie, not even nearly as good as against Berbick=when his Parkinson's disease had further advanced-in December 1981.

Cooper was already cut before Dundee enlarged the rip.
So the referee won Ali the fight against Foreman, that’s a new one.

Just like the mysterious bottle in the first Aaron Pryor vs Alexis Arguello fight in 1982? A lot of fighters were favorites not just Ali. When some of the biggest upsets happened, excuses were made immediately, his trainers left them, their shoes were too big, the ropes were hanging, Ha, Ha, Lol. What about accepting the cold hard facts, no denial, everyone is human.

Ask him what he thinks about Wilder's loss to Fury and the entertainment will continue.

Actually, I think there's an actually fairly interesting question wether at least Ali's stable mate Ellis was on steroids. The guy gained about 30 lbs in about a year at a mature age. And if he was, was Dundee involved (he was a trainer for both)?

    You are right.
Ali was lucky the punch came at the end of the round.
Ali's camp did cheat by giving him smelling salts.
Dundee did enlarge a tear in Ali's glove, but it's hard to say how much time that bought Ali.

Cooper was not a proper HW size wise, but he was a decent boxer with good punching power for his size. He had a great left hook, and Ali was vulnerable to that punch all his career.

    not hard at all.
watch the original broadcast and count yourself

en.wikipedia.org says: "Officials were requested to obtain a new pair of gloves for Ali, and popular myth has it that the resulting confusion led to the interval between round 4 and round 5 to be extended by 20 seconds which gave Ali extra time to recover. In fact, there was no confusion; the referee refused to suspend the fight, and the fifth round was delayed by perhaps three seconds."

wikipedia is wrong! i counted myself and would say the delay during the break was more like 5 seconds (maybe even 6 - in words: six full seconds, which would be a staggering 6.000 (!!) milliseconds!!! -).
so did espn classics in 2006 (watch the end of the linked video): they also counted 5 extra seconds!

it is a fact that - without the extra time of 5 (or even 6!) seconds - cassius would have gotten knocked out cold by henry.

Of course Ali is an all-time great. He's the #1 heavyweight all-time. Seriously, what is wrong with you?

What? It's not new. It's 46 years old.

Dundee is on record as paying off referee Zack Clayton to "protect" Ali. He said he gave him money to "stop the fight" if Ali was taking too many punches. I never heard of bribing a referee to stop your fighter if the other guy hurt him.

Instead, Clayton counted to eight and stopped the fight with George staring him in the eye.

Wilder got stopped by Fury and Fury won the Ring and WBC championships with the win.

    How entertaining was that?

What accusations? Dundee said he loosened the ropes. Dundee said he bribed the ref. Ali's doctor gave Ali huge amounts of diuretics. And Ali had a yard of tape hanging from his glove while he battered Quarry.

The hanging tape didn't HELP Quarry. WTF is wrong you guys? LOL
