Floyd has known Haney since he was a kid, his Dad Floyd senior trained him and Floyd himself has had some sessions training Haney. However Floyd does not want to particularly destroy Haney’s career by putting him in a proper contest with Tank because if Tank catches him like linares the effects will be much worse.

 

Money wise JT unfortunately brings nothing to the table. Even his country men disgracefully in my opinion don’t give a **** that his historic feat in unifying the Light Welterweight world champion belts was not picked up by 1 broadcaster talk less of UK pay per view. Diabolical. No incentive for Leonard Ellerbe to make the match. In any event JT has to face his mandatory Jack Caterall later this year before Top Rank who are struggling to get top opponents for Crawford sacrifice JT to Crawford. Rather sad. If I was Taylor best to fight Prograis again and then wait for Erroll Spence to move up before going for the vacant Welterweight titles.

 

Garcia is a little fish compared to Loma, Taylor or Lopez. Garcia isnt even p4p top 75. And the other three fighters I named are all p4p top 10.

But it does say something that people want to see Davis fight a top p4p guy. Clearly he cant be that bad if people are calling him to fight a top p4p fighter like Loma or Lopez.

 

I get it, but surely as a fighter, especially one as young and fresh as Garcia, you believe in yourself and what you can do and grab hold of the opportunity because it's better to try and fail than have regrets...right?

I thought Garcia had a bit more arrogance and belief than that, to be honest.

 

Tank generates excitement, sells out crowds, PPV sales etc. Taylor as an undisputed champion should be able to hold up his own side. No point in Tank fighting JT if the fight cannot generate 8 figures for Tank in a super fight which it won’t unfortunately in my opinion. The lesson JT’s promoters need to do a better job of promoting. It’s called prize fighting for a reason.

 

He pretends he is an OG but he is a wannabe but when the moment of truth came he punked out a like a *****. I know we are supposed to be more caring about mental health these days but many of us knew Garcia was not of the life to take on Tank. If you fight Tank you need to appreciate not only do you stand a good chance of losing but you have an excellent chance of getting badly hurt. People call Tank out but many don’t really want to face him. There is an excellent chance he would retire Loma if they fought even then he won’t get the credit as the haters will claim Loma was shut etc.

 

So his last fight bought all of that?

He fought for a tin pot belt against a good but unknown fighter (To the masses anyhow)

Yet Taylor who might not be that well known as you say, yet has all the real belts at 140 , is not worth signing to fight?

 

They brought themselves galvanising the key markets against Tank. Mayweather Promotions know putting a good African American fighter against a good Latino fighter helps sells out arenas. Which happened in these fights. When was the last time JT a great fighter I admire sell out a major arena?
