Styles make fights so I suspect Iron Mike gets to Smoking Joe first because of his faster hand speed and marginally better picka boo defence.
I went with Lewis as well. I feel he has the right size, power and athletism to be formitable for any heavyweight in history. Of course, he must be motivated.
I picked lewis, because of his wins over Tyson, Holyfield, and Vitali Klitschko in his last fight(I know it's Wlad in the OP). Also figuring He would just be to big for Ali and Frazier. Not sure how he would do against Forman and Fury, Forman just has THAT power and Fury can give anyone fits with his unorthodox style and Size. I Think every guy on this list is beatable by someone else on the list. And the more I think about it Fury's size really does give him a huge advantage paired with his skill, but could guys like Holyfield, Frazier, and Tyson apply enough pressure to beat him? Maybe?!?! Still not gonna bet against Lewis.
This tread is doing my head in Lewis barely beat a old Holyfield.Plus he lost to McCall and Rathman hardly greats. But you guys picking him over some of the greatest fighters of all time. Baffling?
Only SHW's could win this. And I have Fury at 1. Lewis Wlad should battle it out for the 2nd spot but i lean towards Klitschko.
I definitely agree, I think Mike was the complete fighter in his prime and that incredible speed would be too much.
I actually thought he, Ali, gave away more weight than that. Height wise you can see Ali was close to George. I think maybe it is Foreman looked a little more musclar and broad.
No question, he is enforced lay off was desperately unfortunate and robbed him, and us, of the man in his prime...so to speak. I still think Lewis could find a way to get to him late on, though I'm not necessarily saying he would knock him out. It'd be so close, and could go either way - even to the dreaded and incredibly rare draw.
I have absolutely no doubt the best version of Ali stops the best version of Lewis unless Lewis has one goal in mind which is to survive.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not discounting Ali and his ability. I just think Lewis faced guys who were more fearsome punchers, arguably just as mobile and slick, and he is not giving away reach or height or weight.
Not sure about that at all because Ali faced the most devastating punchers in the history of the heavyweight division namely Sonny Liston, George Foreman and Earnie Shavers just to name 3. I could add to that list.
That's fair. I should have put "also faced fearsome punchers" not "faced more fearsome punchers". I'll be honest, I was slightly distracted when I typed that what with the football that was taking place.
