Well Teo is the champ in the division and beat P4P superstar Loma to get those titles. It's on Tank to chase that fight if he wants it or not.
The questions for me are: "Has he?" and "will he"? If he hasn't and won't chase that fight and others of similar magnitude then that shows a lack of confidence in his own abilities - when you're a belt holder or a huge PPV draw you have the ability to get fights made in a way that dangerous up and coming fighters will often find more difficult... If a fighter has those advantages and doesn't use them to try and make the biggest fights, that counts heavily against them in my book... For example, Wilder holding his belt for years with no attempts to unify, ducking the guy that offered him multiple deals to unify, ducking guys who would massively improve his resume: all that adds up to a fighter who is too scared to dare to be great... Will tank use his status in the sport right now to step up into the biggest fights or will he cruise along close enough to the top to remain plausible but not daring enough to become truly great? I guess time will tell.
Tank is the pay per view king in these divisions. It needs two to tango. Tank will take it when Teo is mandated to defend the WBA Super title against Tank though he could vacate the belt. In any event it’s no secret that Teo is not going to be at 135 pounds for long so it may happen at 140 pounds hence Tank has already tested the waters there.
Well, that depends on how many PPVs Teofimo sells with this Kambosos fight. men & women lie , numbers don’t.
Davis has to really push for a mega fight with Taylor.. I mean really really push. If not then the move to 140 is rather pointless in my opinion, he will be in Taylor's shadow for as long as Taylor is there.
for now but it largely depends on his next 2 bouts. he is scheduled to fight Kambosos & after that he is in negotiations with Loma for the rematch. that is not a gimmy victory to walk away with all the belts after the rematch. meanwhile you know Tank will be taking the path of least resistance.
I doubt it'd take that much pushing? Taylor is refreshingly keen and seems willing to take on the most relevant fights available to him. Tank is highly regarded and brings in plenty of cash. As long as the deal on the table isn't derisory Taylor would be unlikely to decline IMHO. The question is whether Tank really wants to step up into elite territory and put his P4P credentials to the test... Time will tell, but I don't think this would be a hard fight to make if Tank actually wants it.
The fight v Santa Cruz did minimum 200k buys which for a ppv debut is good. I do agree that Davis could become a star and a ppv box office star. Anyone who can punch like he does will always be a promoters dream.
.....so? selling out places means nothing in relations to drawing power. Golovkin sold out places in new york , so did plenty of others yet they never became ppv draws. selling out arenas is a result of cheap tickets plus stacking the undercard with local talent in most cases . Back to the point davis is nowhere close to leaving anonimity and he needs a marque fight against a name fighter in order to do that.
Right now Davis is wallowing in mediocrity. He needs to step up to begin being taken seriously. Yes he has second rate belts adorned upon him. But they mean little to nothing with respect to drawing power. Numerous good fights are out there for him, his management team, if they truly believe in his potemtial, must pounce upon opportunity. It would take probably one good fight to jack up his drawing power.
