    Do you like it though?

Ultimately, we're all boxing fans here. We may be able to recognise a promoters strategy or deconstruct the choices a fighter makes in opponents, but you're basically just outlining what anyone who follows boxing knows, because we've seen it for so long now. It leads to stuffed resumes as good opponents are avoided for in house patsy's, big fights that every fan wants to see never happen until one or both fighters are over the hill, talented fighters like Spence and Crawford see out their careers in the same division never meeting etc etc.

You cool with all this? Is this just the way it has to be?

    Only to an extent.

Davis has a pretend belt at 135 and 140. He would be the B Side underdog in either fight against the actual champion in those divisions.

If he wants the prestige of being the best, he'll have to accept he isn't calling the shots as a challenger.

To be clear I want to see Tank against all these guys because apart from being great matchups I believe he wins them all. For the record I like JT, Teofimo Lopez, Lomachenko and Prograis. I cannot stand Ryan Garcia and I call him Crybaby Garcia because you don’t call fighters out publicly then punk out when they agree and lie about mental health issues. Muhammed Ali called out the feared ferocious Liston and took him out when the fight was made and challenge accepted. Garcia needs to grow a pair.

I want to see Spence vs Bud Crawford and it’s my view that Spence will win even though I like Crawford as well.

I understand the frustration I get it but it’s not the first nor will it be the last either we don’t get the fights we want when we want them.

Wooow that's a bold prediction... I wouldn't say he has no hope of it, but given that his resume is hovering around the bottom of that list, I'd have to consider it a leap of faith to assume he's got levels to go up - especially to beat all four!

It's fine to be a fan, and he's looked good so far, but I'm always really wary of picking less proven fighters against the cream of any division, the most proven guys are where they are for a reason and it'd be a big step up.

We've gone from Tank is "A PPV STAR!" to "he sold a couple 100K" (Luis Ortiz did that!) to some even claiming - I **** you not - that Mario Barrios is a better opponent than anyone Loma or Lopez faced except for each other all within the span of a week-and-a-half!

Can we please PLEASE pump the breaks on Tank? Pretty please, with a cherry on top? He's a very good fighter who may prove to be a great one, with a sizable following willing to buy his bigger/better-marketed fights. THIS IS A GOOD THING BECAUSE IT DRAWS EYES TO THE SPORT AND HE'S THE ONE DOING IT. But he does not have that signature win of, "Okay, this kid is something special proven." Just three quality wins over Pedraza (still his best win), an out-sized-but-game LSC, and now a larger opponent in Barrios who was neither without skills or significant flaws.

Can someone just be a very good fighter who's fun to watch and draws eyes to the sport without projecting "GOAT! P4P! BEST IN THIS GENERATION!" and opening him up to, thanks to your hawking, now-valid criticism that would otherwise be nonsense?

No it would not all. He has faced a very good level of opposition beating undefeated fighters and world champions. Just because people on ESB say things does not make it true. Barrios was rated number 7 Junior Welterweight by the Independent Ring Magazine ratings. A really good fighter. I have been saying Tank is special for years now. It’s not about being a fan it’s about what we are seeing objectively.

Very good, sure, but not at the level of Taylor, Teo or Loma and Prograis would be his best win too - it's a big step up, and whilst I would agree he's likely to be competitive, it's still a stretch to think he beats all four guys.

Until/unless he decides to step up and take those guys on, we won't know and that's the nature of the sport up to a point.

I personally find it easier to believe in fighters who believe in themselves enough actively seek out the toughest fights they can get and win them - someone like Taylor is very difficult to look past... To each their own I guess, but I want to see more proof from Tank that he's at that level before I buy into the idea that he's truly elite.

Honestly, if you set out to turn fans against Tank and denigrate his career and achievements you'd not deviate far from hyperbolic threads like this which nearly always have the opposite effect than that apparently intended.

Also, it's a boxing forum populated by cynical and knowledgeable fans of the sport. We been here dozens of times before.

Tank: good fighter, potential to be great. TBC...
