Assuming this fight actually comes off, who would you take?

To beat Beterbiev, Canelo would have to eat that Mexican meat like never before.

Canelo played it smart waiting until Beterbiev aged. That, with the addition of Covid hitting Beterbiev, makes it a winnable fight as long as he cycles his clenbuterol...excuse me... *tainted beef* correctly there shouldn’t be any issue making it to the final bell where he will win on score of 115-113, 114-114, 120-108

Until Beterbiev fight with Dienes, they were saying that Canelo was too small for that weight and his team was not gonna try to move up, but after that fight they saw something. maybe that Beterbiev is old now and have bad form.

Canelo is not taking risk to lose another fight, that much I know.

He does knows how to wait and pick. Floyd Jr appeared not enough old.
I think we will get Canelo vs Plant and after this maybe vs Beterbiev who then will be even more old than today.
& if he will beat Plant, he will be advertised as an undisputed at 168 lbs.
Depends most likely from who will ask lesser and will agree on shorter time for training.

I think Plant, he still is smaller than Beterbiev and to age Beterbiev more is worth it: even each month does counts a lot.

If they fought right now Beterbiev

By the time the Plant fight and a possible mandatory is out the way, that opinion may change

People are reading way too much into the Dienes fight.

Beterbiev knocked Dienes down at the end of round one. Then he paced himself to get the rounds in. Remember, he had a 16 month lay off and many postponments. It's better to test what you've been working on in the gym rather than blast the guy out in 1 round.

Yes he took flush shots but at no point was he in trouble.

Furthermore, look at his instagram account; the man is a beast and still training like a beast too.

Covid slowed his progress but didnt stop him. The last prognosis was that his breathing was back to 100% and now he is fit and healthy again. This is a man who never drinks, doesnt smoke and lives clean.

These guys from the Caucuses are built differently. They live and breath their professions. Canelo is in a world of pain if he signs for this fight.

Just watched the Deines / Beterbiev highlights.

I think I can see why Canelo might genuinely think he can beat Beterbiev.

Canelo is way faster, he has the sort of explosive shots that Deines was catching Beterbiev with from time to time and he's good at slipping the sort of looping shots Artur throws. I'd agree Beterbiev didn't look as good against Deines as one might have hoped.

However I think Canelo will still lose to this older version of Beterbiev. First and foremost, the size factor is big. Artur is bursting out of his skin at 175. Canelo's blows will have less effect than he thinks they will. Secondly Beterbiev is not a wild puncher. Yes his blows are looping but they are short and compact and I don't think they will be as easy to avoid as Canelo may think. Thirdly Beterbiev is a busy fighter. He threw about 600 punches in that fight which is more than Canelo is used to at a lighter weight. I think ginger might start off by looking good but that he's going to be broken to bits once the later rounds roll around.

In early 2020 I'd have taken Beterbiev without question. Now that there's rumors of Canelo fighting him I wonder what Canelo's team knows that we might not. If the fight happens I think Beterbiev should go out and attack Canelo from the git go and see if he can blast him outta there. I mean geez, it ain't like he could win a decision .

If they weight drain Beterbiev that could tilt the tables drastically. Flash the cash and get him to ***** out his title like Kovalev did.

Kovalev actually lost a lot in his 1 st fight vs Eleider, it was brutal for him. Okey, he won rematch after half year and then was Yarde fight.
No one ever had beated Kovalev so hard as Eleider in their first fight, nor Ward, nor Canelo nor Yarde.
It looked like he maybe never will fight again.

Ofc they migh attempt do all: clauses, short notice etc.

For me looks that still most likely it will be Plant not Beterbiev.
Why? 1. Gvozdyk fight vs Beterbiev.
    2. fight vs Plant might get Canelo more legacy than 2 fights at LHW or 1 at MW cos this will allow him to be Undisputed at 168 lbs with 1 fight if he will beat Plant.
Gvozdyk fight is good remark there: the stuff why course of fight had changed was body punches from Beterbiev. While yeah, Gvozdyk is large for 175 lbs division, hard hitting boxer. I think if Beterbiev did not had achieved stoppage, he did not had won vs Gvozdyk, who I think might be total nightmare for prime shape Kovalev too and even with long notice and with 0 clauses. Gvzodyk hit very hard and still was with a boxer style, able to win on cards too.

Ofc Beterbiev now is looks that over the hill and Canelo does have good chin, Beterbiev is predictable and so on.
There remains huge problems: Beterbiev gradually damages boxers and is not bad body puncher.
