    Freddie Steele deserves a mention.

My only reservation with putting Fitzsimmons number one is that it feels like people are reading a lot into his results post-middleweight into this conclusion.

Ruben Carter springs to mind. The way he took Griffith out who was as durable and defensive minded as they come was stupid brutal.

I would also like to say Rocky Marciano could outshine a few of the new age bangers people are mentioning despite being a modern bantamweight.

Any list without Fitzsimmons is worthless.

It's hard to measure their power

How can anyone ever put a guy born in the 1800s as no 1 ?! o_O
There is no way whatsoever to determine his punching power. IMO he looks kind of skinny for his height.

You can't measure any fighter's power.

It's easier to gauge more modern boxers due to more footage being available

Kind of, but it doesn't make oldschool fighters less durable. Especially when we talk about MW knocking out full sized HWs.

There's no way to accurately measure anyone's power, from any era.

To be honest being skinny has nothing to do with punching power. Hearns a perfect example
