Michael Moorer fought on even terms with an aggressive Lopez for two rounds before taking over and scoring the inevitable stoppage in ten.

Moorer dropped Lopez with a straight left to the body in the final seconds of that second round and was clearly discomforted by it as the third began. Fromo there, his fate seemed sealed, and even in winning the fifth there was a feeling that it was only a matter of time before he would be hurt again. In the eighth he was dropped by a one-two high on the head before being clubbed to the floor more out of exhaustion than concussion in the tenth. He rose at 9 but was waved off by referee ماثيو موردو.

 

Asked after the fight what Moorer was saying to him in the ring during clinches, Lopez replied, "I don't think he was talking to me, he seemed to be talking to himself. He was saying 'the weight, the weight, i lost so much weight!' I was surprised because he doesn't look that tight at the weight to me."
