Don't like to get in the political side of boxing, but here is my take of what the problems in negotiations are: Haymon wants Alvarez to fight Plant on Fox PPV Haymon wants Alvarez to commit to a multi fight deal which makes logical sense because he knows Alvarez will most probably beat Plant and he wants Alvarez to make money for FOX and match Alvarez with his PBC fighters so they get well paid too. I'm confident DAZN is putting more money than FOX, however Haymon will advise Plant not to take the fight. Alvarez said he would never ever commit to a multi fight deal because he likes his freedom. Hypothesis: If Haymon was optimistic about Plant beating Alvarez, he would have no problem letting him fight for DAZN as Plant would come back to FOX with the 4 belts and to be matched with Benavidez, Charlo, Morrell and probably other pbc guys like Dirrell. Knew from last December that Haymon would try to sign Alvarez to a multifight deal when I knew the plan was offering him: Dirrell, Charlo and Plant in a 3 fight package. I don't know if things will get sorted out but as I'm looking now. this 168 unification won't happen, at least for this year. Call me crazy, but at this pace Alvarez might be going to 175 to try to be undisputed there. Damn you boxing! I hate you when you do things like this.
Even if you hate Canelo you can't expect him to commit to multiple fights against Plant at this juncture of his career
Stupid move by Al if he lets this fight go because of that. And I dont blame Canelo one bit. Hope it gets worked out.
Imagine being Plant in this, where your manager is managing you out of a fight like this lol. At some point you'd think he would step in and make sure their side meets in the middle but not sure how much power he has in that relationship (Plant and Haymon)
Is there anyone who wants to see this **** fight? Weight jumping cherrypicking cheat vs the not so slick "slickster"
I feel you. Luis Decubas is Caleb Plant manager. DeCubas also manages Erislandy Lara, Andy Ruiz, Julian Williams, Yordenis Ugas, Mario Barrios, Robert Guerrero, Luis Ortiz, Guillermo Rigondeaux and David Benavidez.
Canelo has full of options. The Plant fight should've been signed a long time ago. If it's not done by now, he should go another route.
The Canelo-Hearn relationship is good because Hearn has given Canelo flexibility and freedom. Haymon wants control and to use Canelo as a chess piece. PS....does this mean, God Willing, that Beterbiev is next????
The Epitome of COWARDNESS is the PBC getting it the way of an UNDISPUTED UNIFICATION because ALVAREZ isn’t willing to sign a Multi year deal. Wanna know why it’s so important to them? Well because it could mean the difference between FOX Extending their deal or Not
