Well, Beterbiev now is bought up in a lot of conversations regards to imagine matchups and possible real fights after he now had rust period, rehab and relatively long inactivity + he now is 36 years 6 months old today.

In good shape 30-35 years old Beterbiev I think had stopped both: prime Stevenson and prime Kovalev.
It had been just too much and Beterbiev is not only huge bloke for 175 lbs division, he was nightmare as an opponent then.
Despite looking predictable and relatively crude, boxer had very long mileage in elite ams under belt. Stuff that had turned Beterbiev into nightmare was not hunting for 1 punch KO despite he does pack such power for LHW division.
Worst stuff was his gradual damage tactic and he is not bad body puncher.

Current Beterbiev is not prime version, at least last fight showed this with a glance.
Vs current Beterbiev version I'm not so sure.

Stevenson had the one hitter quitter so he has that chance, but from what I've seen of both guys Beterbiev has all the other advantages and power of his own. Fun while it lasts but the issue is not in much doubt going into it.

But then you mightn't ask if you thought the same...what am I missing?

Stevenson would have no doubt dropped Beterbiev.
But it seems like Beterbiev is able to keep his composure and ride with the adversity.

Beterbiev would have been the obvious favorite but I would not write off Stevenson. Dude was legit.

This is an interesting matchup, especially with Gvozdyk as a common opponent.

    1) Stevenson was not fully prime against The Nail, and this was a real battle
    2) Whilst Beterbiev eventually broke Gvozdyk's will, one has to ask how much Adonis coma affected Oleksanders will and fortitude in those championship rounds aganist Beterbiev - I for one feel that it was at least A factor; maybe not enough to have changed it had Adonis never been in a coma. But again it's arguable that Artur was simply too relentless.

In terms of the head to head, obviously we have seen Beterbiew put down by Callum Johnson, who hits very hard, but not as hard as prime Stevenson I don't think.

All comes down to whether Artur can avoid the Stevenson bomb for the first half of the fight, then whether Adonis would be able to keep Beterbiev at range away from those short thudding blows he does so well.

This is a real pick 'em 50/50 for me, as hard as Artur is, if Stevenson catches him flush, then it's very hard to see him recovering. Similarly, if it get's past 7, then I'd see Beterbiev wearing Adonis down as he tires late, similar to Gvozdyk fight.

I'd say maybe Beterbiev wins 6/10 but get's starched in the other 4.

I like Beterbiev in this one. He's looked unstoppable up until his last fight. So powerful, so methodical, he just batters chunks off guys with his short, power packed jackhammer blows.

He did not had broke any kind of will.
Thing was more simple and simply medical kind of stuff: with some 3-4 body blows he slowed Gvozdyk down and while Gvozdyk was not down this had impacted his gas tank a lot.
Like in Gassiev vs Dorticos the core that had changed course of fight were body blows. While in media usually had been mentioned head blows as punches achieved knockdowns and delivered Dorticos almost out of the ring, Gassiev was capable to batter him only after some very effective body blows had their effect.

Beterbiev, easier than you think too.

Adonis had an amazing left hand, but once he couldn't use it he was left found wandering.

AB's workrate and will to win would drown Superman.

I do know that these posts how overrated Beterbiev is had happened after his inactivity period and especially after his last fight.
Because he now is old and is not from U.S or Canada.
When he was younger, brave elite fighters from proper countries did not had rushed to fight vs him with decent notice period for Beterbiev.

Esay fight boxing fans also had predicted for Gerald, who sorry, KOed bunch with bums in murica, after this he finished shot highly ranked fighter and get a title shot vs boxer in murica. Won and then hero had been born.
Then Nigel too looked enough old and easy nigh in the office, overrated and enough old to beat up.:)

Sadly Beterbiev now looks is enough old today to attempt cherry pick.

    Stevenson too was overrated.:p
