Does any former Light Heavy Champion weight beat a Prime Mike Tyson.

    I've said this for years, "I don't think ANY former Light heavy weight in History beats a prime Mike Tyson". From a size, chin, skills and power mix I think Spinks had the best combination out of all the light heavy's. He was 6'3, showed a great chin(until Tyson), tough, skilled, and showed good power. There were others who excelled more in one or two of the categories but none who had all like Spinks possessed, and we all know how that fight went.

    So when I thought of the other great LHW's I came up with: Spinks, Charles, Foster, Conn, Tunney, Moore, Tarver and we could even add a prime Kovy or even Beterbiev. Lets hear your thoughts.

    Ones w a chance not necessarily they would but a chance
    Ellis
    Byrd
    Charles
    Toney
    Walcott (think he was LHW or even MW at some point in career).
    I think Moore’s chin would fail him eventually but those five prime have a chance imo not favored but have a chance

    Your right Walcott was actually a light heavy for his first 5-6 fights so he def qualifies. I don't think his chin holds up to Tyson though. I think Byrd gets blasted out even worse and quicker than Ike Ibeabuchi knocked him out. People forget how fast of foot Tyson was. Toney is my favorite fighter of all time, but i don't think him or Charles would have enough fire power to keep Tyson off. The Toney fight always reminded me of Tyson vs Tubbs. If your talking about Jimmy Ellis, all the more notable punchers knocked him out or beat him i.e. Frazier, Shavers, and Lyle.

    I wouldn’t pick any to win but I wouldn’t sleep on Toney giving him a nightmare of a time or even winning.

    Replacing Michael Spinks in 1988, I´d give Byrd and Toney the best chance to show a little boxing. Toney might in fact be the favourite here of all LHWs out there. Both lose anyhow.

    You're right, I misread.
    Yeah, James is slick, but he still ain't beating a prime Tyson.
    Prime Tyson is close to invincible.

    I find it a bit disingenuous. Whenever the question comes up someone throws Holyfield forward. Ali won the Olympic gold at light heavyweight. The Light Heavyweight amateur archives are rife with great professional heavyweights. where does one draw the line?

    I always try and look at the question as asking for guys that spent some time there or were champion or great. Spinks, Foster, Moore, Charles, Tunney, Conn etc etc. There's plenty of them.

    None would overly bother Tyson imo.
