If prime David Tua was active today where would he be in the HW picture?

Tua did not have quicker hands than Dubois does. They had/have a similar short hooking style.

I doubt he'd much chance against Fury or Joshua. They'd just deal with him same as Lewis did.

Tua wasn’t great. But he would have been 50/50 with the whole top 10 now or better.

Tua was very different to Dubois

Tua was Demolishing TOP contenders and 4 actual champs.

Dubois failed in his first step-up fight. -Vastly different.

Tua would likely be regarded much like he was in his own era. He'd bounce around various positions within the Top 10. Under the right circumstances he might land an alphabet trinket, but his lack of discipline, one dimensional style, and inconsistency would prevent him from ever rising to the top.

I don't think it's quite that simple. In his own era, Maskaev, Rahman, and Ruiz all picked up titles, and Hasim actually won the legit championship. And yet, Tua never picked up a title in his own era.

Don't get me wrong. Tua might, under the right circumstances, find himself in possession of an ABC belt. But I wouldn't necessarily assume that's a foregone conclusion.

Not a forgone conclusion but if Parker could and if Martin could, I'd definitely think Tua would.

I suspect Tua would grab one of the belts. His greatest weakness was his lack of preparedness. He seemed a bit lazy and one-dimensional, uninterested in expanding his skill set. But save for the top two HWs today, Fury and Joshua, Tua easily competes with the rest of the division.

Can I ask what is the definition you are using for the current era?

I just ask, because we have fighters like Joe Joyce who were still Olympic hopefuls, and Whyte and Joshua had yet to transition from Domestic level when the stars aligned for Martin to win a title.

You're acting like im referring to Tua going pro NOW. Im referring to if he went pro in the early 2010s and build from there. I definitely think he'd win a title after Fury vacated his belts, because Fury ended the Klitschko era and a new one started from then. I really think you just don't like Tua cause he was short. He definitely had a better resume than Wilder does LOL. His win over Rahman >>> Wilder's best win

Tua beat Maskaev, John Ruiz, Moorer and Rahman - all champs quite close to their primes.

Yet he never held a belt - and seemingly gave up in his early thirties - doing almost nothing for years and years.

He should have retired a multi-millionaire

    Kinda sad that he didn't

Whilst I recognize we could mark that as being the end of the Klitschko era, I think we were still in a transitional period until the Klitschko v Joshua fight. I don't think Martin is a reflection of how Tua would "definitely" win a title.

And no I'm not talking about Tua going pro now, I just wanted to know what you classify the current era as. But in the same vein I could say you are acting like you get to choose the best version of Tua, and the exact moment he gets to challenge for a title.

BTW, I do actually recognize mine was not the most popular opinion that Wilder could beat Tua, it wasn't just because of his height though. However being 5'10 would certainly be a disadvantage right now. And whilst you may laugh, you hardly have a neutral view when it comes to the contemporaries of Lennox Lewis. I'm being somewhat facetious, but your default setting seems to be every challenger to Lewis would be champions in any other era. Therefore, glory to god.

But let's put that to one side. You already said yourself you don't see Tua beating Fury, Joshua, Usyk or Joyce. Then we factor in that during "this current era" Whyte has yet to challenge for a title, so personally I don't think the WBC would have ever let Tua in the ring with Wilder.

Therefore a semi-permanent fixture in the top 10 would be my guess on how he would line up in the current era.

You're refering to if Tua wanted to fight Wilder, how about if Tua fought Parker for the vacant title instead of Ruiz ? Or was mandatory instead of Hughie Fury, and the Joshua that fought Takam would most certainly loose to Tua. What if Tua was the one to fight Stiverne instead of Wilder ? When i saw current era i dont mean NOW i just mean the era we're in, im including all of it. at some point he would have probably won a title. What else besides Wilders Height and power would give Tua issues. Power can actually somewhat be scratched off because Tua has an iron chin. Wheras Wilders skills are ****. The height difference is massive but lets not act like its impossible to a 5'10 person to clip a 6'7 man. He will catch Wilder eventually.

Fury ended the Klitschko era, this is the consensus amongst the boxing community, he outboxed Wlad and took all of his belts and then scattered them when he retired. Vitali, Wlads brother, at this point was already retired. Wlad was most certainly past it and the era was over. Wlad never got his belts back

And Lennox Lewis beats Fury and Joshua so lets not even go there.
