I'm not going to play ping pong with you all night. Valuev stated, specifically that he was expected to fight Vitali in an immediate rematch and if he defeated Vitali again, that he was expected to fight Wladimir at that point. This is what he explicitly stated. It has never to my knowledge been contradicted by anyone in the Klitschko camp.

Either way, Vitali didn't do very well when he took on top 5 fighters. His record in the top half of the division is not great. Shame.

Love Vitali but he came up short against 2 of the 3 best fighters he faced IMO.. Fury has more facets to his game & isn't injured as much

Larry Holmes. Past it Larry Donald who was a bootelg version of Larry Holmes did pretty decent against Klitschko boxing wise until he got stopped. But the stopoage wasn't 100% called for. He wasn't KO'D nor was he getting completely battered on the ropes. Donald fell down multiple times and was hurt but half of those falls were because Klitschko pushed him, similar to how 37 year old sanders rocked Vitali and pushed him to the ground. Larry Holmes has better punch resistance and was FAR quicker, better head movement, could dictate range better, and had a better jab. Larry Holmes in his 40s post retirement did better in the 90s than prime Larry Donald. Imagine him in his prime.

Vitali Klitschko is elite but he didn't fight high calibre fighters in his prime. His claim to fame is outboxing a 37 year old overweight Lennox Lewis that had 2 weeks to prepare wheras Vitali himself had been preparing to fight Lewis for several months to a few years. but based on that logic Hasim Rahman must be a monster because he KO'd a younger, slightly less overweight Lewis in 5 rounds. Lewis looked sluggish and absolutely terrible against Vitali that night and fighters like prime Holyfield or prime Mercer would have destroyed that version of Lewis. He was always aggressive against taller fighters like Grant, Biggs and Akinwande. But he tried to box Vitali in rounds 1 and 2 which was odd. he clearly was not himself. He was there for the taking but Vitali couldn't pull it off and got half his face punched off im the process.

I am no Vitali hater but people really only think Lewis or Fury could beat him. I don't believe that. Ali could beat him, Fury could potentially beat him, prime Mercer could potentially beat him, id give peak Tim Witherspoon a decent chance, i really think Mike Tyson could outwork him as he actually had a good gas tank in his prime. Vitali gets more credit than he deserves. He's not unbeatable

Sidenote i think Vitali beats Fury

Did they had attempted to contract Valuev from period shortly before his fight vs Holy or even vs Haye?
    Damn.

Nothing wrong, Mike fought easy fights until get reanimated from retirement Holmes in the ring.
I forget that he was from U.S.

If about Valuev, I don't think that Vitali or Wlad had stopped Valuev unless maybe via cuts. They ofc had legit chance to win on cards vs giant, I think.

Arguably only one, even, given Wilders grossly overinflated reputation.

As you say, it'd be an intriguing matchup... I have a feeling Fury would be motivated enough to be on top form, which makes him a very slippery customer, but somehow I still think Vitali beats him.

It would've been a **** fight to watch if they had stepped in together, I think... They were too close to really go all-out against each other regardless of professional pride.

Easily Vitali. What possible physical or mental gift did he lack as a fighter? Maybe not a durability against unfortunate injuries but otherwise he's the perfect heavyweight boxer.

All I will say is, can you imagine what a prime Vitali would have done to the Alabama Windmill? It would have been a destruction and demolition of gargantuan proportions similar to Drago V Creed!

Larry Donald was very durable, he had never been stopped or even knocked down before he fought Vitali.

He went the distance with Riddick Bowe, and had a close fight with Valuev (a MD loss) three years after he fought Vitali.
