Bobby Chacon was still a Schoolboy in the 1970s but he was an action fighter spanning both that decade and the 1980s. Must have missed the day in school where they taught how to have unexciting fighting.
Many great names on here. Koichi Wajima, Carlos Palomino, Vito Antuofermo, and Eugene Hart were also good action fighters. Maybe not as pronounced as Saad, Chacon, Duran, Frazier, Arguello, etc., but vastly entertaining nonetheless.
I would probably put Saad except that I think it should be Duran. Since the thread is called "Favorite action fighter of the 70s", Saad really was big mostly for no more than half the 70s, while Duran was a constant from beginning to end.
I remember in the early 1970's Ring Magazine and some other ones were building up Tony Mundine as the fighter to beat Carlos Monzon, and become the new Middleweight Champion, that is until he got kayoed by Bad Bennie Briscoe in Paris, France. Tony then got knocked out by Monzon on Oct 5 1974, in round 7 in Luna Park.
Danny Lopez was pretty fun. Sometimes I swear he wasn't ready to fight until he got tagged hard or was put on his ass.
To be fair in the Rudkin case, this was British fight of the year for 1972 and the first fight with Johnny Clark was British fight of the year for 1970. This content is protected
