Wish I had known that. I would have liked to have asked him what happened to Logan as this was his last fight. Was it injury or what? Because to retire after your career best win is unusual. I don't know when Dempsey was last posting here but I only saw this fight about 2 years ago. It is well worth it to see. And even more amazing, this was his last fight. Don't know the story, but he went out on a high note.
On the subject of Cuevas, check this out. His first fight with Angel Espada. Pipino decked Espada 3 times in the 2nd round all with left hooks. All of them were beauties, but the first one, at 1:36 of the film was absolutely sweet. Check it out. This content is protected

I can't believe Espada got up!!!! Man Pipino has got to be one of the hardest punchers in welterweight history.
I've said before, I think this is the most aesthetically pleasing hook ever down to the fluidity of both men's movements. It's seamless. Joe's rise is almost mirrored in reverse by Ali's fall and almost like synchronised swimming. Plus it was in colour bur before sponsors' logoes started polluting the ring canvas, fighters' trunks etc. A sumptuous few seconds. However, I don't think it was as good a punch as a much shorter one Joe landed in the 11th. Ali was against the ropes in the corner and although he didn't go down, I think it stunned him much more. He did his 'Is that all you got wobble?' which he reserved for when they'd 'shaken his kinfolk back in Africa'. I see Foster v Quarry gets a mention. I'd chuck in the Tiger KO too. And getting back to Ali, his own on Bonavena was a belter.

His belly was flabby and soft. He got there in the end but it does make me wonder - ever so slightly - if the fight, while a tremendous spectacle without compare in the sport, may not actually have been the pinnacle of the practice of boxing, given the shape Ali was in no more than five weeks before fight night. He'd fought Bonavena the previous December. What did he do in January? Just eat pasta with chocolate sauce?
Frazier’s left hook on Bob Foster was a peach. Although Foster was the smaller man the left hook that finished him was a brutal shot and it nearly took his head off. This content is protected
