Stylistically speaking Is the one landed by Tyson against Ribalta the best uppercut ever? I remember a lot of stunning uppercuts above all in the HWs including _ Lewis v Vitali _ Joshua v Wlad _ Foreman v Norton _ Foreman v Frazier _ Foreman v Cooney _ Povetkin v Whyte Do you know others? Depends on how you define uppercut. To me, an uppercut should be delivered by the opposite arm to the lead foot. So, if the left foot is advanced, the uppercut is thrown with the right hand and vice-versa. Otherwise it's a hybrid hook which cancels out some great choices in here eg Saad-Mwale, Spinks-Pops, Foreman-Cooney, Walcott-Charles, any from Tyson which were invariably thrown with the right with right foot in advance. some of Ruddock's more memorable punches. I may be wrong here and am happy to be corrected. Before I am though, and given my criteria, in terms of correct form Holyfield threw some beauties vs Cooper, Roger Mayweather hit Vinny Paz with a peach (although, I have to say, I like any punch that lands on Paz) and Foreman-Frazier are great examples. All of them had left arm tucked in and glove up and all transferred the energy from the left foot all the way up to the snap of the right elbow. Like cracking a towel. In terms of effect, though, the one that Eubank landed on Watson was the most profound and turned a seemingly hopeless situation into a win. Had Michael not been the exact distance he was from the ropes thus causing the whiplash it may not have saved the day. But from the moment Eubank went down, snorted and spat and just got up and threw that punch, he looked superhuman, like some cartoon bull getting ready to charge. In hindsight, it really unsettled me watching it.
While respecting the thought that went into this, I don't agree with this definition of an uppercut. By this, an uppercut can only be thrown by the non-lead hand, which seems an odd notion.
