That is simply because you are scoring every close round in his favour some of which could easily go to Charlo.

 

I don't agree.

 

He was throwing some jabs. Yes it was feel out round but I can see it for Charlo.

 

Castano didn't go down, but he was hurt badly a couple of times, wobbling around the ring and took a pasting for most of the round. It's similar to the 10-8 round Cotto suffered at the hands of Corley...and pretty much everyone agreed that was a 10-8 frame in spite of the fact that Cotto eventually fought back and managed to stay off the canvas.

I disagree, I thought there were 8 clear Castano rounds, 3 clear charlo rounds and 1 close charlo round

 

One thing that I was impressed by from Mell was his commitment to the jab. He has a really good jab when he commits to it and works behind it. This was a part of his game that was missing but in this fight he really showed how good of a jabber he can be. In a close fight, when one fighter out jabs another to the extent Mell did, and on top of that showcases explosive power, it's hard to take it away from him. Even though Castaño outworked him and landed some great shots. The problem with Mell is that he goes through lulls where he waits too long to punch then gets hit flush and doesn't respond. But man this dude always balls out in the late rounds, even if he's down on the cards you always know he's gonna come out swinging late in the fight. I was expecting an all out brawl in the 12th round but it started pretty slow, though by the end they were swinging for the fences. Great fight, I would love to see a rematch. Very evenly matched and exciting.

 

What’s this stuff about huge physical advantages. Provided the guys make the fight weight what’s the issue unless you want to go back to morning of the fight weigh in instead of the 24 hours before?

I don’t care about either of these fighters, I have no reason to score close rounds for either of them, I’m just tired of seeing B sides in boxing get stiffed

 

I personally think Castano let go of the strong position he was in by losing rounds 10-12.

 

9-3 Castano would be right, and that would be being generous to Charlo.
