Saw the yellow highlight and knew it must have been a post of mine. It's the only way to make the simpletons understand.

Keep the foot on the jugular fam.

He was never going to match him for speed.

He went with the wrong tactics.

You can’t box Floyd when you’re at a reach disadvantage and a speed disadvantage.

    Marcos Maidana found him easily.

Canelo wouldn’t put him under any type of pressure.

He just stood off of him all night.

Canelo can pressure but he's not that good at it. A good pressure fighter that can cut off the ring will usually always be an outboxers worst nightmare

Yeah. It’s never been his forte. But it wasn’t Oscar’s either. But Oscar pressed him and backed him up. And he won rounds on aggression, and for the fact that he had Floyd covered up on the ropes on numerous occasions. Canelo needed to press him more and not show him as much respect. But it’s what makes boxing so great and interesting.

    Styles make fights.

An old adage that’s as true today as what it’s always been.

    Floyd beat Canelo easily.

Floyd struggled badly with Maidana in their first fight.

Canelo is/was on another level to Maidana.

    It’s fascinating.

It's no mystery why Floyd struggled with Maidana. Mayweather came out of the Canelo match beat up and sore, which led to what happened to Maidana.

It took Floyd some time to recover form the Canelo fight, and he didn't train as hard for Maidana. So by the time he fought Maidana, he had slowed down and was easier to hit. For Canelo, Floyd was at the top of his game, for Maidana, Floyd was not. This was more than just "styles make fights". It was a depleted version of Canelo due to the catchweight and a much better version of Mayweather that fought him.

Despite all this, the scorecards were identical for Floyd vs Canelo and Floyd vs Maidana 1. The fans interpreted these matches very different but the judges scored them the same. The same scores but Canelo fighting a much better version of Mayweather, and having to fight Mayweather with the handicap of a catchweight. You said the catchweight had no effect on the match but that's where we disagree. The catchweight was pivotal to Floyd emerging victorious.

What fans don't seem to understand is what struggling to make weight and being weight drained during fight week does to the comfort level and preparation of a fighter. When you're so focused on watching your weight and making weight, you're so preoccupied with the weight that it takes your focus off your gameplan and preparation. This is especially true for a young fighter like Canelo who never had to cut weight like that before. Mayweather's hard enough to deal with at full strength, when you throw in a weight cutting handicap into the equation it makes it that much tougher. Also Oscar was in rehab during fight week so Canelo didn't have his promoter there. Canelo was up against an incredible amount of distractions and disadvantages, it's a miracle he went 12 rounds with Mayweather and fought as well as he did under such conditions.

Even after you make weight and rehydrate, having to starve yourself during fight week takes a toll on your stamina which materializes in the later rounds on fight night. Your level of concentration is compromised when you start feeling the stamina depletion from the weight cutting when the fight gets into the later rounds. Mayweather took full advantage of this and this is the main reason why he emerged victorious.

The same division doesn't mean they have the same stature. 152 was a split for both.
Canelo thought it was necessary to agree to the fight. Maybe he simply got outclassed, and his own rehydrating strategy simply didn't help.

Floyd was on the juice. Canelo had not yet become Clenelo.

he's getting a massage for a "shot to the thigh", and he's going to the doctor's in the morning because he has a sore elbow.
    that's it?

the maccas run was more controversial than that.
