Nothing emotional about that whatsoever, you process emotions quite poorly. Clearly, you're not a stoic. Because it means so much to you to have the last word. So emotional, can't control yourself. Well, I am and I can.
What? You don't think you need to travel for a full day to ger from Stockholm to (was it) Texas? And no, he wasnt scheduled to fight that place and date or at that weight?
Yes, he was scheduled to fight on that card. https://3kingsboxing.com/yigit-ready-romero/ If he was scheduled to fight there, I would have assumed he'd have been in the country 1-2 weeks prior to the fight. As a matter of fact, I think he may actually be based in Miami. Im not sure at what weight. Although he did say in the press conference the week of the fight that he believed 135 was his weight class and that he should have been fighting there all along. "If anything, 135 pounds is my real weight class. In Europe I’ve done quite well at 140, so I didn’t feel like I needed to come down. When I fought for the title I realized 140 may be too big for me."
So, who was he supposed to fight and at what weight? From his social media it was pretty clear that this fight came out of the blue and he wasn't training for any fight up untill two weeks before the fight. And no, he's not based in Miami. Or, he might be there now, hoping to get one more fight before travelling home again. Rolly also said in the presser that hed knock him out in the first round. Maybe pre fight press conferences isnt the best source of information. Rolly did good though, but to call this anything but a cherry pick is false. Call up an inactive boxer in an other weightclass to move across the Atlantic and get ready for a fight in less than two weeks is not a level playing field.
Sadly this is nor rare thing in business: prospects needs wins and preferably via KOs/ TKO. Mainstream clients aren't so skilled to spot silver spoon feed career development. Casuals are paying most part of real bills via ppv and tickets sales. They, casual clients, rullz market. Not boxers or anyone else.
He was in training for a fight on this card. In Yilgrits words, it was to be at a catchweght between 135 and 140. He had been in Texas for 2 weeks before the fight. I just think saying "Cherrypick" is a bit unfair. Its not like he chose for his opponent to get injured 2 weeks out. He offered the fight to someone who as already on the card, and who had a decent record. What more could he have done? If Yilgrit wasnt ready, he should have said no.
The 29th of July "Yilgrit" poster on his Instagram that: "two days ago i got an offer to fight, and yesterday i landed in Miami for an intense training camp" But sure, i'll take your word over his. Would you not call it cherry picking to call a boxer thats: not active, nowhere near fight weight, not in the country, but has a decent record cherry picking? Is boxning in USA so in decline that there are no decent lightweights ready to fight?
It is HIS word. Look at his post fight press conference. Said he flew in 3 weeks before the fight.(Meaning he was in the country when he was offered the fight) I'll repeat for the 5th time, he was on the bill already, he was training for tha night to fight between 135-140. That basially means that he'd even have been overweight for the fight he was training for. As for finding someone better? Finding someone on 2 weeks notice, who is already training for a fight on that night, and who is a former world title contender. You think theres a tonne of guys out there he could get who is better? and willing to fight for whatever Yilgit/Dulay got? This content is protected This content is protected
Or he is saying he got a two week notice to be on the card fighting at a catchweight. Could you otherwise please explain why he just started training two weeks prior the fight date and why he was at 160 pounds two weeks prior the fight? Do you really think hes that unprofessional? But if you want to believe he was based in Miami and in training for a fight at that place and weight, please do. But theres no harm in admitting youre wrong or have missunderstood something.
Let's start that Rollies had very easy spoon feed fights in row to show him as KO/TKO artist and then one from his opponents had schooled him but US boxing is BUSINESS not sport and he had business win on score cards. Now next fight. Pro boxing isn't sport cos it's core: to serve casuals with a glance. Cherry picking, hometown fights, nice judges cards, home town officiating and dumb fans in long rows is core of professional boxing. Pro boxing does SUCKS heavily as competitive sport even if compare with Oly Wrestling ( I know, it does sucks for casual tribal and nationalistic fans cos they LOVE pro boxing pro wrestling business and their heroes and likes this stuff a lot ) or even BJJ or Judo. Pro boxing as 50/50 matchup unbiased sport does SUCKS heavily. It is business: develop stars or " stars " and milk these stars. Shame not sport. Pro wrestling is not worse than pro boxing and this is damn far from sport.
Most likely Id say he was called in as a reserv when it first became unclear of the scheduled opponent of Rolly would be able to fight or not. When it became clear he couldnt, Yigit got that fight instead. Thatd explain both the two week notice and the "already beeing in the card".
No, hes saying he was alreadfy on the card. He LITERALLY SAYS "The idea was I was going to fight on this card" Why do you think Romeros team went straight to him ad got it done so easily? He was already on the card. Thats been known for a while. The commentators even spoke about it during the fight. Im not the one who misunderstood anything. He was 160 pounds because Im guessing hes unprpofessional? If you're weighing 160 a few weeks out from a fight at say 138, then yes, you're unprofessional. Being 10-15lbs above the weight a few weeks out isnt unheard of. Being 20+ lbs is on him. He literally said he flew into Miami 3 weeks ago, so he was in the country when he accepted the fight, so h wasnt travelling from Sweden to get to the fight. Jeez dude, why cant you just admit that 1. He was already on the card, like he and numerous others have stated. 2. He was training for a fight between 135-140 3. He was in America 3 weeks before the fight Do you at least agree to that much? Frankly, getting a former wold champion on 10 days notice, who was already in training for a fight and willing to fight you at average money is a pretty good catch by Romeros team. Yilgritat whatever weight, and any level of inactivity is probably betterthan Dulay.
Ohh, this bully is very large bully even for 140 lbs division with a glance. One question: how long time this hometown bully might make weight. Rollies already had lost fight regardless what pro wrestling ( boxing ) cards had showed to us as next proof that pro boxing is a pro wrestling like business nothing more.
If you believe they fly a former world title contender over from Sweden to participate on the under card (was that part even televised?) of a triple headed card in Texas, then please do. Just because people repeat something doesnt mean its true.
