We always see the name Emile Griffith mentioned among the top five welterweights in history but never hear much mention of Rodriguez. If you study the three fights between them, most sports writers who covered the fights significantly favors Rodriguez as the victor despite the fact he lost two razor thin split decisions .. the man had an outstanding record for the first twelve years of his career and was a top performer at 147 .. curious on some thoughts about him ..

Luis should probably be at least a top 30 imo. He beat many great welters as well as several good middles, and usually gave a great account of himself even when he lost.

I've seen a lot of respect for him in here at least. He does still fly under the radar comparative to his achievements and capabilities tho i guess. Heck of a fighter.

I agree with John, around here at least he's the hipster's choice all the way. Smooth, classy boxer who used his height and reach very well but also had elements of toughness to where you couldn't just try to break him down the way one might try against a long, lanky fighter.

This forum is one of the rare ones where he gets the type of credit he deserves. In general, however, I think he’s probably the most underrated all-time great of the last 100 years at least.

My oh my, what a good read, and what a very good fighter he was indeed, I had no idea how good his resume is, whilst only a WW took on MW not only MWs but feared fighters like, Briscoe/Carter, and beat them easily , truly a very fine fighter, and must now be surely included in the top 15/20 WW of all time. keep well.

Their fights are painfully boring. I can appreciate the skill on display, but neither seems to ever be in a good fight.

He never gets a mention. Almost never, ever. Hugely underrated.
