    The problem I see with these British stoppages is that if it is the British fighter taking punishment and returning nothing at all, then there's no stoppage, they wait at least until there's a knockdown.

    A little premature in my opinion but Takam was going to get stopped. He was completely gassed and was starting to eat punches.

    Takam is an all action fighter for 4-5 rounds. He was doing a great job working Joyce but man his body composition isn't really made for his fighting style. Still a decent performance. Joyce had his hands full with him until he gassed and i think Takam would still give a lot of upcoming prospects some tough fights. He should think about fighting prospects in 6 or 8 rounders... :risas3:

    I agree but Joyce wasn’t saved. Saved implies he was hurt or struggling.

    Disgraceful decision by the referee. Takam had more left, was in trouble but that was very poor.

    Boxers should be told to throw pointless punches when they're under the cosh in Britain.

    Takam was trying to ride the storm and didn't have an opening so didn't throw. Just any punch anywhere would have prevented the stoppage.. daft but you can always see it coming in this country.

    Takam should have taken a knee although he was going to be stopped. Was always going to go that way as soon as Joyce landed clean.

    Exactly. Most of those shots were being rolled with or blocked, the crowd was just overreacting as were the commentators. Takam winning 1 or 2, that's fine. All 5, not a chance.

    :lol: The ref would've waved that off about 20 seconds earlier if that was AJ

    I don't want to hear any excuses from the AJ faithful Joyce got Takam out of there in almost half the time as it took AJ to get him out of there and it was a legit stoppage not a premature one as Takam was coming on and AJ was gassing.

    The age excuse won't wash either because Takam was roughly the same age as AJ's two best wins and Pulev

    Joyce was robbed of Olympic gold, AJ was gifted one after losing half his bouts in those games
