Takam with the exception against AJ, has caused problems for anyone he has fought and did so against Joyce. I had Takam winning rounds 1 (found it very easy to land overhand right especially at the end), 2 (Takam working the body all round) and 4 (again found easy to that overhand right).

Joyce best round 3, 5 and 6. Joyce landed a very good first punch at the beginning of sixth and jumped on piling the pressure although it was a very premature stoppage.

The stoppage was fine.you can't take so many unanswered shots after doing the stanky leg then complain about it.

I think Chisora turning up last night is possibly a sign that he is next and that will be a decent fight. Will be very interesting to see if he can eat Chisora's telegraphed overhead right.

The Fury v Joshua fight may even be 18 months away should Fury continue to pull a fast one.

Some great fights to be made in the division but these rematch clauses (even in non title Dullian Whyte fights), 2-3 fight contracts and the unpredictable future of Fury means we the fans have a long wait.

Exception against AJ - you are consistent and probably don't accept that Ruiz Jnr borrowed his belts or man has indeed landed on moon.

Granted Takam took AJ into deeper rounds than had been at that point and it was also premature stoppage. However AJ won every round I thought including dropping Takam.

Whilst Takam has caused more problems in the following fights:

Vs Parker - I scored it 8-4 Parker.
Vs Chisora - Takam was clearly winning until gassed.and got caught with great shot from Chisora.
Vs Povetkin - Takam took several rounds off Povetkin before Povetkin KOed him.

I've stated before I would be rooting for Joyce to beat AJ if they fight but I think AJ will wins as Joyce will to slow and easy to hit. I'm not saying Joyce won't cause AJ issues he would cause anyone in the divison issue with his toughness, pressure, work rate and jab.

Joyce is far too easy to hit and vs the top guys in the division he loses. You can't keep taking shots without facing the consequences.

Ben 'safety first' Davison at it again in the commentary, If he had his way Joyce should would have backed off and tried to cruise through the last 6 rounds.

So Usyk doesn’t make him look silly once again? Come off it.

Its possible but both have changed massively since then

Joyce seems to be tougher snd Usyk most definitely isn't the same as he was health wise

Anyway your point was because he was schooled years ago he dont deserve another chance

    Thats ridiculous

I'm not sure if you'd agree, but it seems clear to me that Joyce would not go in there with such reckless abandon against anyone. He was up against Tickling Takam, so he couldn't have cared any less about being hit by him. It was almost embarrassing.

He's completely ignoring the fact that Joyce had only started boxing five years prior and that Usyk had been boxing for over a decade, too. Usyk had already won World and Olympic championships. Needless to say, abilities can change over eight years.

You genuinely think he will fight like he did last night vs a Wilder or AJ?

And who do you class as these top guys bar AJ and Fury and maybe Wilder?

Joshua goes negative when speed comes into play.. Its his kryptononite.. Poor v Parker cause he didnt want to get into a shoot out with a guy with better hand speed and same VS Ruiz in the first fight. Where Ruiz speed and agrresion allowed to really get in and hurt AJ.

Joyce doesn't have that speed in fact AJ will have a good edge there and although he's made of granite I think Joshua hits harder than anyone JJs faced, and has a better shot selection as well.

I think stamina could be key. How hard does Josuha have to work? if he can outbox Joyce without taking to much back he will probably y win a wide points decision. If he's dragged into a brawl and jjs chin holds Joshua gets drowned late on and stopped.

My view of the main event last night:

It's hard to criticize Joyce as I firmly believe he didn't get hit by anything which he wasn't content to take and be hit by. It was clear from his body language that he was quite indifferent, almost lackadaisical to Takam's punching. The only reason Joe didn't go on an all out offensive earlier on was Takam was quite tricky in as much as he is so short for HW and was showing quick reflexes so Joe didn't want to exert too much energy until Takam started to tire.

Takam really is a non puncher at the top level of the sport. He's a classic example of looks being deceiving. Looks the part, but there is very little in his punches. Joe was smart to do enough, coast and let Takam tire himself out. He started to slow down a lot in the 5th round and got stopped 3 minutes later.

I don't have a big problem with the stoppage. There was far too long left in the round, there was no way he was getting out of that 6th round. If the ref had let it go on, Takam just would have got knocked out 30-40 seconds later. Takam was finished, he's ran out of gas and was about to be pummeled.

Lastly and maybe most importantly- I don't think we can read too much into how Joe Joyce would perform against an AJ or Usyk from this fight. Granted he didn't look impressive but he didn't need to, he was simply fighting to the standard of his opposition in a fight he was (IMO) always going to win as Takam although game for a few rounds has no real ambition left in the sport and at 40 is there to pick up a pay check not cause a big upset.

Used to think Steve ‘good lu lads’ Gray along with Loughlin were a lot better than the rest of the refs you regularly see. That was too early last night and I think Gray was well aware he couldn’t let Takam get hurt after his throwing the towel out incident.

How was he allowed a top of the hill big fight after that debacle anyway?

Takam can cause people as many problems as you want

He has never actually beaten anyone of note when posing such problems has he...

Which to me suggests the problems are quite superficial and not much of a problem at all
