The only problem i see with he fought to the opposition...how many times do we hear that and then said fighter gets battered when they eventually do fight great opposition. Like billy joe saunders or khan getting battered in sparring telling us its only because his opposition was nothing to worry about...only to go on and get leathered by good opposition.

Tbf sometimes it is true but the juries out on joe for me. You should never be relying on being able to take the opponents punches regardless of the level your fighting at. I m not saying its not possible to be sucessful as frochs a prime example of it working...but its not great evidence he,ll do well at a higher level.

Tbf we,re still a mile away from knowing how good joe is. 10 months ago we had dubois down as not far off from taking over the division based on beating nathan gorman. Joyce has only really had 2 or 3 pro fights thats showed us anything.

Takam, jennings and dubois. Takam and jennings both teed off on him at times. Both also about 40. Dubois is still raw and doesnt look good enough outwith his physical strengths to achieve anything great. We know joyce is good because hes dealt with these guys and he,s had a good amatuer career. But nothing else hes shown shows hes gonna give the main players too much trouble for me.

Its not a great sign when a 40 year olds hitting you almost flush with big right hands every single round even if you do think their no problem.

 

I would put Whyte in there as well.

No Joyce wouldn't fight the same way but its not about last night. In general I think his defence isn't very good as well as he is prepared to take risks to land himself. Fury would be far too elusive for Joyce and his slow hands.

AJ would set him up and walk him onto shots.

Wilder I could see eating jabs but as with ortiz would land a huge shot and get a stoppage.

Whyte I could see him and Joyce trading and both getting hit but again Joyce's hand speed will see Whyte landing more.

 

It is a possibility Joyce might be able to any of the aboves power, its quite remarkable how he brushes shots off

Whyte i think would eventually gas and be done

His chin is cracked and will never recover

 

Think the next step is getting him in with another step up from a 40 year old takam. Tells you all you need to know if the next few opponents are not much of a step up.

At 35 you cant sit and wait on a mandatory to a fighter who still has at least 2 more fights. Hes either good enough or hes not. If frank steers clear of the next level up....it will pretty much tell us what we need to know. Cause the evidence we,ve seen from joe taking flush right hands off jennings and takam as well as a few of the journeymen hes faced pretty much shows us he needs more fights before facing the top guy. By that i mean fights against the next two tiers up. Bakole, huey fury type next. Then your chisoras, hunter. Then your whyte,s, ruiz,s, parker etc.

You cant just go from taking right hands every round from takam to then go on to face the same level then try jump to joshua/fury/wilder level.

Bakole type should be joes next fight. No more over the hill guys.

 

Was Robbed a win against Mike Perez, who in turn was robbed a draw from last round controversial point deduction against Jennings.

The thing is with Takam he either fought top 10 guys (which all of his losses are to) or guys outside the top 30 (could say the the same about Hughie Fury). I'd like of seen Takam against more guys ranked 10-25 over the years but unfortunately this hasn't happened for whatever reason.
