Shavers hit the hardest but his accuracy sucked, if he had jack blackburn as trainer he would have been one of the best.

    Shavers.
Certain people make the mistake and mix the accuracy or technique with Punching Power.
I guarantee you in a direct power comparison Shavers wins, have no doubt about it.

I can't get why people are talking so much about some physical power.
Yeah, you need to deliver this power properly, preferably with good setup, proper timing and placement.
I had watched Ali vs Shaver fight. Unlike in A.J vs Ruiz II fight, where I was surprised how predictable Ruiz legs movement was, damn, this was fascinating.
While Ali vs Shavers fight predictable were also his punches, not only movement in the ring.

This then should be measured with tools. Someone did this?
Pure punch power is thing like in weight lifting how much you are able to lift up, measurable.

Years ago the OP asked, Who you got in terms of punching power between Earnie Shavers and Wladimir Klitschko when Wlad was till active. Then he gave a quick review mentioning the "Golden Era" parroted by sentimentalists and other not so nice "ists". He closes w/ My vote go to Earnie Shavers.

The 2nd post is: Shavers. Close thread.
Well the thread has lived on. The obvious answer is Wlad K. He's just a bigger HW who also was a big puncher. In Wlads era he fought and stopped - with some 10 counts - much bigger HWs than Shavers usually faced. There is no comparison, except a few cherry picked exceptions. Shavers might have been the hardest puncher in his era. Nothing more or less.

Yes this is only about Shavers punching power and not as an overall boxer. But let's be clear - The Acorn was not only stopped in r1 by CW Quarry but by the crude Ron Stander. Quarry & Stander wouldn't have a snowballs chance in hell vs. Wlad or many other modern HWs.

Shavers was an exciting fighter, getting a KO or stopped himself. But due to faulty reasons he's still overrated here in H2H vs. modern HWs. Shavers, with his glass jaw and fair to middling engine, would not be competitive vs. good 2000s era HWs.

Wlad was 39 y.o lazy rich man when fight vs Fury had happened.
Wlad never had fought vs Lennox and Vitali never ever had ran from Lennox, Lennox retired after fight vs bad overrated in your eyes Vitali cos Lewis was DUCK with Duck belt.
DUCK KING Lewis piece of s************* and nobody for me.

Bear in your brains that Ali was walking boxing corpse when he was 38 y.o vs Holmes. LOL.

Stop posting garbage. There was no overlap between Shavers and Klitschko's era. They both did not face the same opposition so we cannot compare.
    You are ******ed.

Lewis retired so how could anyone fight him after Vitali?

Wladimir has KO'd larger SHWs although this one in particular has only 1 KO loss and it's to Shavers so that is impressive
