You said that Bugner considered it his “most Brutal and gruelling fight” when in truth much evidence shows Bugner was in more brutal fights and lost more clearly against other fighters.

By concentrating only on Bugner “considering it his most gruelling and brutal fight”, rather than the actual truth of a split decision or the tame nature of the fight it really was, the implication might be that it was a one sided shattering loss for Bugner.

In truth it was One bout that Bugner was unlucky not to get the decision for. And so much evidence bares this out.

For the third time now, I never said there weren't any other fights where Bugner lost more clearly.

Micky ward clearly lost to Zab Judah, but Judah acknowledges it was his most painful fight. You keep thinking in black and white as if a contender is incapable of delivering more punishment to a common opponent than an ATG in a close fight. Tyson acknowledged that although he clearly beat Ruddock, having to stand there getting blasted by those vicious smash punches felt like he got repeatedly kicked by a mule and that the fight took a lot out of him.

I wasn't implying that Bugner vs Lyle was some sort of one sided beat down in favor of Lyle. I never "implied" anything that you're suggesting. I even spelled this out for you and you keep sticking with it. You keep responding to **** I never said and creating straw mans. All I did was acknowledge Bugner claiming the Lyle fight was his most painful. That's it. Stop reading into things that aren't there. Try to simply read what someone wrote and take it at face value. If you're confused about something, just ask. I am not the 1st or even the 10th person to tell you this.

He went into an ice tub to heal and took 6 months off from boxing. The records show he did in fact take roughly 5 months and some change off from boxing and then fought a bum in his return bout. His story checks out. Your agenda driven BS doesn't.

He has maintained this position at least 3-4x cited by 3-4 sources provided by myself and John Thomas.

You are wasting your time with him Cobra he is entrenched in his views and nothing you can say will make him change his mind

We would be justified in making Marciano the favorite, but that comes with a couple of caveats.

Lyle does have a stylistic advantage, and there is anecdotal evidence to suggest, that he was one of if not the hardest punchers of his era.

well yes I always agreed that Bugner was injured. Never disputed that. I acknowledge your point, you don’t acknowledge my point. A point that isn’t agenda driven at all.

What I wanted was acknowledgment from you that this was a split decision, a close fight that could have went either way unlike other fights of Bugner where he took more punishment and had clearly lost.

Because if you keep piping up about ice baths and lengthy lay offs rather than acknowledging that Bugner probably won that fight or at least that the decision could have went either way it rather looks like you are not wanting that point to go out or be the focus of anything negative to the Lyle cause.

I never claimed that this wasn't a close fight. You are arguing with yourself at this point. Reading comprehension choke.

That’s right you didn’t claim it wasn’t a close fight. You were entirely silent about it instead. You were silent about Bodel beating Bugner more clearly than Lyle had. You were silent about anything on official record that says Lyle vs Bugner was a boring, draw type of fight too.

whilst all along I was happy to accept Bugner was injured and felt he took a long time to recover even though he might have won that fight.

Seems like most people think rocky beats Lyle anyway.

Yes, and that would be the most sensible conclusion.

This is a case where the underdog has an interesting caveat however!

Would you be as kind as to present all this evidence?

It would be a battle of generations, Harry S. Truman against Gerald R. Ford, both were involved in attempted assassinations, Truman in 1950, Ford in 1975, twice. Ron Lyle made it a tough fight for champion Muhammad Ali in May 1975 before he swallowed a hard right hand in round in round 11. Rocky Marciano put former champion Jersey Joe Walcott away in May 1953 in round 1. I see a good fight by both but Marciano beats on the arms of Lyle, the body takes a beating from Rocky, then in round 10, which spells the end of the fight. after taking a Suzi-Q.

Lyle gives the lil' fella a Colorado State Penitentiary beatdown. Every time rocky works up the gumption to pull the trigger on his wide, slow, t-rex wallops, he gets blasted by a real athlete with power, reach and a quick trigger. He doesn't understand this. This one isn't like the doughboys, geriatrics and pencil necks that he faced and his fanboys told him were greats. He tries to process. The punches keep coming. What is occurring? Who is winning? Blackness. Weightlessness.

Barbara wakes him in the hospital waving his walking papers. Meet the new Mrs. Ronald Lyle.

Close fight both getting their shots in and then late in the 6th Marciano from the crouch position springs up and hits Lyle on his chin, right on the button and it’s lights out.

I too would like to see this "so much evidence" because It's simply not true *shock horror*

Two out of 3 judges scored of for him and one was pretty wide.
The AP scored it for Lyle 55-54.
Las Vegas SUN called it a draw.

Joe Bugner himself - He was a very strong opponent and although I lost a close decision the bottom line is close isn’t good enough.

Also in the descriptions of the fight -

But after Bugner began bleeding in the 10th, Lyle seemed to come alive. ‘ Using fierce rights to the body and left uppercuts to the head along the ropes, Lyle tired his opponent, and Bugner began holding. In the 11th, the right hurt Bugner and again he tried to tie Lyle up on the ropes.

Perhaps these "fierce rights to the body" did indeed do some serious damage.
