From a Standing start and not costing $75 6 times a year plus cable I’d give them a 9. Currently have the biggest two draws in their stable. And globally the biggest promoters in the game.
For me it's a 6 , the service is readily available and cheap but the bad camera angle is the biggest deal breaker for me, I can deal with poor production and commentary but to deviate from the tried and tested HBO camera angle to the Mission Impossible cam is the worst thing DAZN ever did.
So true, the camera is awful. Unlike you however, I simply can't deal with the commentary team. I find myself enjoying the event less because I have to listen to them. Oh HBO how I miss thee.
10. Genuinely can't complain for a couple of quid a month. Especially given the quality of fights on there.
I subscribe. As a fan of the sport you'd be crazy not to. 100 bucks a year or whatever? By far the best bang for the buck. Much better than showtime or espn both of which require a cable subscription and then try to sell you a ppv couple times a year. Thumbs up DAZN.
App is good and has some decent content. Quality of the cards leave a bit to be desired but GGG and Canelo, Matchroom stable. Can’t argue, great value for money. * Camera angle also drives me mad. Gives me a headache
Well, let's see. I understand DAZN in other countries, like Canada, have sports on all the time like Major League Baseball (MLB), National Football League (NFL), National Hockey League (NHL), National Basketball Association (NBA), various Soccer (Football) leagues. Tennis and Boxing.) ESPN does something similar. I pay $5 a month for ESPN+. On ESPN+, there is always a live sport going on. As I type this right now, there are four live events taking place. A soccer match. A ball game. A live discussion about the Olympic team. And a preview of the NFL. And a live baseball game between the Dodgers and the Giants that stars in a couple hours. In the US, however, DAZN only carries Boxing, Billiards and Darts. And none of them are taking place right now. It's just dead air. And I don't anxiously await pool or dart matches. There are 50,000 movies on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime and HBO Max. So, you basically pay $20 a month for one Matchroom show, whatever that may be. The rest of the month, there is nothing on live. Just old fights you can click and rewatch. And, in August, there is a Conor Benn fight on this weekend and a Josh Warrington fight later in the month. Is that worth $20 when ESPN+ shows boxing and sports around the clock for $5? Someone just mentioned Showtime and ESPN. Showtime and ESPN aren't dead air for weeks on end. DAZN US is. So, if that's a good deal, I guess that depends on if you like channels that don't broadcast anything at all except for once or maybe twice a month for a couple hours.
That stupid camera angle always gets me yelling at the TV. Whoever is responsible for moving on that idea needs to be dick slapped to death.
9, DAZN and its fellow boxing streaming services, are from my perspective - as someone who hates cable and has refused to purchase it for at least 20 years - the best thing to happen for boxing fans this century.
Well, the Conor Benn fight is off this weekend. So, $20 for a month of a couple billiards tournaments again and about 29 days of dead air.
Can you guys explain the camera angle issue with dazn? You guys prefer the stable long range view from hbo right? Dazn seems to have wobbly views and horrible zoom in and outs.
Aside from the commentary, which is not good, there is something peculiar about the DAZN broadcasts. I'm not familiar with specific cameras and lenses and lighting, but I know they do play a huge role in the look and feel of fights, and in the look and feel of broadcast programming. But DAZNs boxing telecasts all look like they are shot in someone's garage, if that makes sense. There's no depth to anything. Even if a big crowd is there, you get no sense that they are, even in wide shots. It's a strange thing. I understand what people mean when they comment on it. But it is difficult to articulate.
I could never fathom how much these promoters and general managers have for their teams/ fighter. At the end of the day, tickets, food, beverage, ppv revenue,it doesn't all pay the bills right? How loaded are Hearns Haymon etc shilling out their own pocket money to please their client?
