Joyce had to go the distance with a faded Bryant Jennings and didn't look good in doing it. He beat a old Ustinov who was never good to begin with and Joyce beat Brit hype job Daniel Dubois. So Joyce has yet to face anybody and Wilder has yet to beat anybody besides 800 year old steroid cheat Luis Ortiz and 5th tier fight Dominic Breazeale. That being said Wilder would probably knock out Joyce.
Love watching Joyce fight, big slugger with a great chin who constantly comes forward, nightmare for anyone.
Too many people predictably talking about power and chin. This won't come down to either, but to who controls the rhythm and shape of the fight. That'd be Joyce.
This is an interesting fight, actually. I guess Joyce could break Wilder down if he survives the bombs long enough. But can he? People underestimate how fast Wilder is and I think Fury fighting him also helps us to forget. A lot of shots Fury evaded would land flush on these slow HWs.
After watching Paul Dempsey suffering both Joe Joyce and Callum Johnson on presenter duty a few weeks ago I realised that Joe Joyce doesn't have a good chin, it's that he occupies a different time plane than everyone else in the world. Punches landed by Dubois were translated into neurons operating in the Joe Joyce timestream, meaning that he only felt them several weeks later. That explains the stories of the large man walking through a north London supermarket staggering and crying out in pain as if he'd just been punched in the face. Two days ago he was reported to have addressed a very well argued analysis of Lyndon Arthur's chances of gaining a world title to a bemused attendant at his local gym who didn't understand why he kept calling him Paul and nodding to a potted plant that he referred to as Callum.
Wilder, by decision or KO. I'm usually one of the first to point out that Wilders resume is shockingly poor for someone who held a strap and could near enough take his pick. However... Joyce is also massively overhyped relative to his actual achievements. Joyce looks slow against guys that aren't that quick and is easy to land on - sure, he can take a decent punch but Wilder punches much harder than anyone Joyce has faced yet, and you have to fancy Wilder to land a bomb or three here. Both are hugely overhyped, have obvious deficits and wouldn't really threaten the top fighter's in the division - in Wilders case that's why he ducked them all until making the mistake of fighting what looked like a washed up version of Fury, Joyce is different in that he doesn't really have the following to make him a tempting money bout do he's stuck waiting. Joyce is almost tailor made for Wilder IMHO.
Anyone can be KO'd if hit with enough powerful shot or at least staggared and beat up afterwards until the ref stops it. Wilder imo has the power to do this but Joyce will likely pummel him round by round and stop him in the 9th
Wilder too fast and hits too hard, too aggressive. Wins either by decision or ko.. Joyce is so stiff, ineffective jab, slow, terrible footwork. He'll be outmaneuvered and beaten to the punch consistently.
The logic on this forum does not disappoint. Joyce will win cause he will eat bombs from Wilder. You know how stupid of a logic that is ? Wilder has real KO power. Joyce can’t box for **** and uses Homer Simpson style of boxing where he eats punches until his opponent is worn out. If this fight ever happens it will be Wilder by brutal highlight KO.
i would enjoy this fight, just for the curiosity element. joe should be getting his ass whooped, cause hes a statue, and wilder should be getting his ass whooped, cause he cant box. but joe has the jaw, and wilder has the punch for that jaw, so who will outlast who?
Well this would be a good fight, Wilder is fast, Joyce is more technically savvy and he probably would lead on points through the fight and win unless Wilder finds the space and time to launch a One-two combo and eventually knock Joyce out...
The French pastry chef, Polish criminal hooligan, Special Ed teacher and a geriatric man with heart problems were able to last into the later rounds. Joyce is limited, there to be hit, but he also brings a high volume, constant pressure and has a nice stiff jab. If Joyce isn't clipped early this could end up being a repeat of the 2nd Fury fight.
Joyce would be too slow and would be an easy target for Wilders power shots. The best chance he’d have is if Wilder broke his hand on Joyce’s head.
