Kov was shot by the time he fought Yarde, then after that ass kicker had a short camp for Canelo. Fight wasn't fixed and in fact Kov gave a good effort, but he has nothing left.

How do you read that statement and then jump to the conclusion about the fight being fixed ?

He's clearly on about the fact that only a number of weeks before fighting Canelo he fought Anthony Yarde who gave him some very sketchy moments during that fight and then had to go straight into another camp for Canelo with basically no recovery time.

Kovalev is now more than 1 1/2 years into retirement, and should keep it that way.

 

My only issue is how does a noted power puncher like Kovalev forget how to throw his power punch against Canelo?

 

Conserving energy after a gruelling fight just weeks before and also his touch jabs had him in the fight and slightly ahead on points. The game plan was working. In many ways I wished he'd boxed more at his peak.

He had very underrated boxing skills in my opinion and throughout his career could have set up the KOs this way, and let them come to him. But he fell in love with power and felt he had to live up to the Krusher reputation. Worked well for many years but when his physical prowess started to slide we saw more of his boxing repertoire.

But let's not forget in the first fight with Ward he was outboxing him...
