Seems like murders row at 168-175. Im not sure he beats any of the top, top guys. Plant is 6’1 and slick as fk, way slicker and bigger than Saunders. I think he could easily put point Canelo, or Canelo breaks him down. But that shoulder roll with reach and height advantage is hard to get clean hits on. Bivol just looks textbook dangerous. Benavidez would also give Canelo fits. And beterbiev may outwar Canelo. I don’t think Canelos win over a shot Kovalev and Saunders tell us anything about how he does against the top guys today.
Lord Gennady was our best hope , now I rest my faith in his pupil and sparring partner David Benavidez.
I'm fairly confident that Bivol can beat him (in the eyes of the fans) if he comes prepared and the fight happens at 175.
Canelo next fights are against Plant, in September, and probably against a 40-year-old GGG at super-middleweight in May. That means the next time anyone with a chance of beating Canelo may take place is Sept/2022. So...
If the Bivol fight is at 168lbs then Bivol has to be super smart with his rehydration and his preparation has to be super smart.
I don’t know the SMW crowd all that well so I don’t have as much context but watching Plant, he looked really good. Has that speed, range control, some slickness. Has lapses in his defense which Canelo may make him pay for, but he looks better than Saunders.
Plant lacks a very important aspect for a world class boxer and that is pacing, he looks good early on then has some pretty major lapses in concentration down the stretch, his stamina also isn't the best, his poonches visibly lack steam in the late rounds.
