    Before the Matchroom solo deal with Sky, fights such as this used to be on Sky Sports monthly.

    Eh Day then stuck any decent fight on Sky Sports Box Office.

    That is probably why many have a beef with Matchroom.

    I’m not a fan of Fowler at all but credit to him for taking this one. It’s a very hard fight and he surely knows he’s an underdog here.

    Another loss, and at his age/stage of career, it’ll really damage his trajectory given he’s not very popular anyway and he doesn’t fight in a particularly high profile weight class outside of world level.

    Liam Smith certainly is not on the slide thars for sure. Very good fight, that Smith wins for me.

    Hardley a prime Beefy though. I agree Smith wins this at a canter but that is because Fowler is not very good. What i was saying is we are not getting any domestic fights were 2 prime guys are going at it, they are all either having a 2 year build up or just not happening because of politics. Boxing is in a sorry state at the moment if fans are bigging up a card headlined by Beefy vs Fowler.

    Hope Fowler wins because he's an idiot and the underdog and I'm the kind of idiot to support blokes like him.

    I would agree with this, but could also counter that Matchroom regularly put on hype jobs pretending they were high level fighters, and that their match-ups were important - where more careful matchmaking early on would have shown them up before it got that far. Convincing fans a fight is credible is part of the promoter's art, those hype jobs end up wanting paid more, differentials kick in and suddenly Sky can't afford to fund actually decent fights - and they go to PPV.

    Very similar to the English football scene for the last 30 years.

    Probably not, he's very deluded about his level. Reminds me a lot of Eubank Jr in that regard.
