Think that's lee wylie,I've watched a few of his you tube videos and he clearly knows his stuff.they tweaked a few things with josh Taylor I noticed in the Ramirez fight and it worked for him.davison said in an interview before Josh fought khonsong I believe that he wanted to stop Josh from bouncing up and down on his toes just as he's ready to fly in to the inside because it was telegraphing his movements and giving the opponent a rhythm to catch him coming in and if you watch all taylors fights he does get caught a lot while he's bouncing up and down.he never did this once in the Ramirez fight and he really struggled to get a read on Taylor who played the role of a backfoot counter puncher for the 1st time in his career to near perfection.its a small thing tbh but it made a huge difference in this fight imo.
Too many good boxers work with the guy for him to be useless. I reckon hes a very good trainer who will get better with experience.
Is devon haney an mtk fighter...he might well be i,ve no idea. Think people are being blinded by not liking the man personally. He lacks top level experience...but tbf hes on the way to getting it. Experience isnt the be all and end all tho sometimes it can actually end up becoming a disadvantage. But bens absolutely dedicated...probably worryingly so. Sometimes that can more than make up for a lack of other things imo.
If he is legit properly decent trainer we should embrace him really as he has delivered sensational results in the last few fights. Would he rank as best trainer in UK at moment?
It is a bit like alex Ferguson or any other top quality football manager. You bring in the best people to do certain jobs to improve the overall performance of the team. Interesting to see how it all develops over the next few years with Davidson. I don't actually think he is a nob in the same way Gallagher was, and he doesn't have a dodgy history like Mcguigan does (well the father). Booth had a few naughty accusations about financial deals with Haye and Groves. The stuff during the Saunders fight was a black mark, but anything associated with Saunders is trouble. I'd put the blame for that at Saunders feet re davidson / tibbs miscommunication.
Ben obviously has something about him that appeals to certain fighters, mostly seasoned fighters and Eddie has hinted it is his ability to motivate and his fitness routines (Boxercise Ben). He does need to step back a bit and realise it's not about him, he cannot wait to get his face seen, take over interviews and generally massage his own ego by lapping up the praise. Still only 29, I am sure in years to come he will develop his own style and his ability to train younger fighters will grow.
Taking over the training of fighers that are the finished article such as Tyson Fury, Billy Joe Saunders and Josh Taylor, then claiming credit for their in-ring success is one thing. Let's see if Ben Davison can take a fighter from scratch and work with that fighter, shaping them into the finished article. That's not to say that he can't or won't, however. He's obviously highly thought of as a trainer and is capable of helping fighters to improve, but he doesn't exactly endear himself to me with his is apparent need to constantly be the centre of attention.
Davidson has got his priorities all backwards, he needs to spend far less time trying to prove his worth as a coach to elite level boxers, and far more time trying to prove himself to anonymous posters on niche internet boxing forums. More work required lad.
Give him a teenaged Rocky Marciano and see what he can do with him. See if he can mould him anything like Charlie Goldman did. We are talking two left feet, cricket throwing right hands, hit at absolute will by novices, and falling over without being hit.
I would have mcguigan as the best for the work he did with groves, frampton,Taylor and what he's doing currently with okolie.but I do rate the Davison team with guys like Leigh wood and lee mcgregor showing vast improvement under them.
Is this the measuring stick of which all boxing trainers should be judged? Hats off to Charlie Goldman, not only did he teach a man to walk, he made him into an undefeated World Champion.
The way he makes this sound so complicated He thinks he invented boxing this lad This content is protected
Cant really say you can blame the kid really. Been labelled boxercise ben....just a fitness coach in most peoples eyes. He reveals a short video showing hes maybe a bit more than that. Now comes the criticism. You cant win really. Doesnt reveal anything and hes boxercise ben ...does reveal something and its this kid thinks he knows it all.
