Joe Joyce vs Wladimir Klitschko

LOL we talking about the Wlad who bullied little guys? We talking about the disgraceful disqualification worthy performances against 6ft 2 Povetkin and Haye where all Wlad could do was clinch and push to make up for his lack of boxing skill? Wlad had a good jab but you've got to rmemeber it was really only demonstrated against smaller guys with less reach... And therefore that gives the impression of it being more impressive than it actually is.

He would probably beat Joyce but its not a given. Joyce is 6ft 6, has a chin, jab and non stop pressure and he has a great chance at beating him. I wouldn't be surprised if Joyce makes him flail like he did against chubster Corrie Sanders

 

Wlad was a dominant champion in a weak era and Joyce hasn't beaten anyone better than a gatekeeper in a weak era...

3 is an absolute minimum, whatever you want to call it it's a hideous mismatch.

 

I'd say 2 levels apart is Pulev vs Klitschko. Klitschko has issues with Pulevs jab so he realized he had to get out of first gear to beat this guy, and when he did it he completely demolished Pulev LOL. I'd say thats the match up we're looking at right now (LOL)

 

Klitschko lost to Puritty, Sanders and Brewster before his reign over old, short and past it opposition.

I still need to see a little more from JJ. Hopefully he gets a shot within a year or so. Already old for a prospect.

 

They're both big, can hit hard and are pretty over rated. That's the comparison. People acting like Joyce is the second coming of Christ need a reality check, that'll happen as soon as he actually fights someone of note.

 

Okay fair, but one is average speed and the other as slow as it gets. One is tall and rangy, almost scrawny, and the other is a brick shithouse. One is accursedly chinny, the other seems pretty damn tough.

Similarities begin and end with "huge KO power" and "overhyped coming up".

 

You guys go way too far with your Joe Joyce stuff. Wlad wins.

 

Purrity had a granite chin but that was Wlad at 23. I like Joyce but he's not at the level of WK early 00s. Punchers chance only.

 

Yeah he's getting old... His handspeed has definitely taken a hit, his footspeed/timing is still good though. Joyce has one of the best feet at HW at the moment (Usyk>Fury>Joyce)

I would like to see Joyce in with a good opponent who is in their prime or at least not 34/5+.

That said I think his win over Dubois is highly underrated. There's not many with the feet or chin Joyce has that can avoid/take those shots from Dubois. Many of those shots Dubois did land would stumble/drop top 10 fighters.

Joyce is no doubt a live dog with any of the top 10 fighters.

 

Saying that, Sam Peter gave Wlad trouble and he's no better than Joyce

 

I wouldn't really describe either of them as scrawny tbh. As for chinny... What actual puncher has Joyce really been tested against?
