It’s interesting isn’t it? If Joyce was a contender during the K era and got bashed up by Wlad he’d be written off as just another unskilled challenger in a weak HW era. Now that there’s more parity and no dominant champion around that could crush him easily Joyce is regarded as a genuine threat in these H2H matchups.
Klitty would end up turning his back an running no way does he have the heart and stomach for that kind of pressure and work
You realize the majority of the forum all agree that Wlad vs Joyce would be a mismatch right ? As a matter of fact Joyce isn't even Samuel Peter tier as far as im concerned. Man was getting touched up by a 40 year old Takam
There’s quite a few who think it would be tough for some reason or that Joyce would even KO Wlad. Just look at the post above yours.
I am looking above, only a few think Joyce would be a threat to Wlad. Everyone else thinks Joyce gets destroyed
For some reason? Didn't Klitschko get blitzed by 3 mediocre opponents? Didn't he get schooled by Fury and lose to Joshua? His reign was over old, short and generally useless opposition. Joyce might not be young, but he is fit, ambitious, physically imposing (bigger than W. Klitschko) and a hell of a lot better than the likes of Brock, Mormeck, Leapai, Pianeta, Ibragimov, Haye et al.
I do hope you saw my later retraction of the statement that Joyce could win about 20% in a series of ten fantasy matches (each in a vacuum), as that was based on me thinking of the version of Wlad that fought AJ, not his best.
True but Joyce was inexperienced and although he got dropped hard he didn't appear to be hurt. Puritty had an iron chin but was stopped a couple of times very early in his pro career and Tua was stopped in the 1st round in the amateurs. Joyce's reputation from sparring, the confidence in his chin we see in his fights and the bombs he took from explosive puncher Dubois without trouble suggest that he has an excellent chin.
I'm not saying that Joyce beats Wlad but I see Joyce like 70's Foreman if Foreman was 2 inches taller, 25-45 lbs heavier, vastly more skilled and with a fantastic engine instead of an awful one. Joyce fought at least half a dozen noted and skilled punchers in the amateurs since late 2013 and was never KO'd or to my knowledge even knocked down. In the pro ranks Stiverne could crack if you gave him the chance (which Joyce did) and Dubois is known as a very big puncher but neither really troubled Joyce's chin at all. If you have an excellent chin and mental toughness (Puritty, Peter, Povetkin) or a God-tier chin (Wach) then you can eat a lot of shots from even Wlad without being KO'd. It looks like Joyce has an excellent chin, maybe a bit better than that and a fantastic engine. Combined with his size, skills and heavy-handedness, this allows him to apply huge pressure over the whole 12 rounds. Unless you are fast, durable, defensively skilled and have a very good engine yourself, Joyce is probably going to break you down. A puncher of Wlad's calibre could probably keep Joyce at bay enough to win but Joyce gives anyone a hard fight.
Joyce way too slow, that being said WK has taught me to never be absolutely confident in him on any night. Depends on who shows up
