Any news or updates on the career of Danny Murrell? It's been 9 month since he last fought which seems strange at this stage of his career, I thought he'd have been getting the fights and rounds in.
I think he was pushed into a pro debut with Dave Allen saying he would be this that and the other, but Dom Ingle has gradually managed to get Dave out of the picture and now he’s training Danny full time i think he’ll probably want to reign it in and let him learn a lot in the gym before going out again. I think Danny will probably struggle now, if Dave Allen isnt hyping all of his fights through the eye balls then he wont have any real sort of following.
The realisation that you can't play at boxing, especially when it involves living the life and cutting weight, kicking in I can imagine, especially after a defeat from an experienced journeyman comes along.
Exactly, and Dave Allen isn’t the guy to have around when considering this. Dave, as a heavyweight with a decent punch, managed to do OK playing at boxing, but when he came up against a very motivated Price who has been a full time boxer since the amateurs and for all his faults, lived the life, got absolutely flattened. Dave training Danny Murrell for a pro debut in his back garden was a bit of a recipe for disaster but luckily Murrell had enough Ingle training / fought a journeyman who doesn’t really have any ambition meant he got away with it. I’d imagine maybe 1 more this year as he carries on training and building up his strength before being a bit more regular next year. Might be worth a bit of a cash out with Hatton’s lad if they are similar weights. He’ll probably make 20 grand from that and it’ll give him a head start for a career in something else.
It’s a travesty that Dave Allen somehow got himself in the limelight, never mind his mates. Just watched a few videos of him and he looks completely hopeless.
I think when you look at the photo in this article you can see why he had to go away for a while and work on his conditioning, you can't be fighting at the lower weights with the muscle definition of a teenage boy on a crisps, chocolate and cheese and ham sandwich for lunch diet. You can also see that, if he put his mind and body to it, Allen can lose the weight, he looks very light in that shot. https://www.fightmag.com.au/2020/11/07/danny-murrell-dave-allen-has-made-me-the-fighter-i-am-today/
I live in the next village to Danny, used to see him, Dave and Liam at Greggs lol. Danny is tiny, Dave had him competing at 154. Cut out the Greggs and he'd be down at 135 I reckon.
Fought at Welter in his last fight, could easily make 140 or 135 though. I saw an interview with him from a month ago or so and he admitted that he does stuff like eat two tubs of Ben and Jerry's in a night. That's just stupid, that's what you do if you have learning difficulties or an eating disorder. If you have one tub of Ben and Jerry's it can feel like a bit much, a bit sickly, to smash two when you are his size is mad.
Danny has a lot of talent but not sure if the discipline is there. He could do with a few long training camps with a few Ingle Pringles to help him fill out. Definitely shouldn’t be boxing at anything higher than 140 though.
Feel sorry for this lad, seems like Dave Allen sold him a false dream and rushed him into turning pro and he just went along with it. Because of Allen's input he's now got this unnecessary exposure and the likes of us dissecting his two fight career. Has a bit of talent though I'd agree with that notion
Crazy isn't it, even crazier is how quickly he became a fat lump again. When you look at him next to Murrell in that pic you would never think he's a Heavyweight although he was probably still around 16 stone there because the lad has legs like tree trunks.
