I’ve only ever watched one of her fights and she lost to Shannon Taylor, strangely though Ebaine Bridges still turned out to be far more popular than Shannon according to Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. In fact she is close to being as popular already as Katie Taylor who is a two weight world champion, and has been doing TV fights for at least three years now. Bridges is playing up to her role though posting memes of Eddie Hearn’s not trying to stare at her boobs. Wearing Harley Quinn ring walk outfit, even stirring up controversy selling her used socks, and pictures of her feet making thousands a month from doing it, and tipping guys off about it on YouTube interviews. This has to really annoy more talented female boxers that struggle to be taking seriously. Could it turn women off from being pro boxers? Could it see a increase in similar women trying imitate Bridges easy success, and make women’s boxing more popular? How do you feel about her impact on woman’s boxing? This content is protected
I don't have a problem with it. You work with what you've got and she at least backs it up in the ring by being a solid pro and fun to watch unlike similar female boxers in the past like Mia St John who used their looks but couldn't fight at all. Fact is women's boxing doesn't get much attention. It's improved drastically since it's become an Olympic sport and with promoters like Hearn willing to back women's boxing. But it gets almost no attention in the media unless you're an Olympic gold medalist. So women like Bridges use what assets they have to garner more attention, opportunities and money. Some male boxers trash talk to raise their profile, some resort to weird stunts, look at my avi pic as an example. She's just doing what works for her.
Who cares? Her fight against Courtenay was pretty damn good and is a FOTY contender. Not so sure why people even discussing this. What's the problem with her anyway? Her look? Her approach? She's looking good and she likes to show her body. And i mean it's a weigh in so what should she do? I think she's good for boxing and i enjoyed the Courtenay fight. And she was MUCH better than i expected her to be. No problem here. Women's boxing is a mess and pretty poor if you look at it overall so girls like her are good for the sports because she comes to fight despite being not the most technical and skilled fighter. I think the fight today against Connolly is another FOTY contender. They should match up very, very well. And it's not different in men's boxing. Look at bums like Tommy Fury. He's also making cash because of his name. Or other guys. Boxing is entertainment. And if you have an interesting personality, a very good look or something else that makes you interesting for the audience you can make money there. At least if you can fight a bit. And Bridges can fight.
Not every female boxer is comfortable marketing herself this way , it does create some initial buzz but mostly it's the pervs who end up staying.
She's a far better self-promoter than Courtenay who lots of people dislike. That's why she's been invited back.
She is good for boxing. She is glamorous but more importantly she is a gutsy fighter. She also is personable and has charisma.
