Easy? Davis was unseeded. He beat veteran Enrico La Cruz, Oumiha (the number #1 seed, former olympic silver medalist), the Russian Mamidov, then the #3 seed Bachhov, who was lighting everyone up.

Cruz had a bye, then fought Luke McCormack, Oliveira, and a skinny Aussie with a mullet.

    Get outta here!

I really felt for Khyzhniak losing the most important fight in his life in that manner. He bossed the first two rounds and was only 90 seconds away from fulfilling his dream and it all went pear shaped for him at the final hurdle. I've never even seen him hurt before let alone dropped or stopped. Even up at LHW against all the top boys he fought up there I don't recall seeing him hurt and as tough as he is it's insane it's never happened before given his ultra-aggressive style. He had it in the bag and should've just coasted or at least not been so reckless in that final round but he wanted that gold medal so much and he was just too reckless and overconfident.

I think all the holding he had to put up with against both Marcial and Sousa played a part too because he just wants to work and you could see it was really frustrating him and the fact the referees not only allowed his opponents to get away with it excessively but even blamed him for it too instead of deducting points from them for doing it when it was plain to see to anyone with the gift of sight that it wasn't him who was instigating it and that he was the one desperately trying to wriggle free (even holding his arms out to show the referees it wasn't him) and work caused him to become even more overeager when he wasn't being tied up and was able to work. It was a perfect left hook though and he was obviously hurt.

Apparently Khyzhniak wants to stay amateur until Paris and go for gold there.

Well, that is ...a choice. That means pros after 30. But if he really wants the gold that badly and is willing to risk the four year wait being for naught and delaying his turn over by that much, well then, more power to him.

lol, im just ****in around. I watched the ko. I was saying torrez looks like he has improved. I doubt 2 years ago he blasts through the guy in the semis. I was saying that although he looks better he hasnt faced the beast jololov. Meant in the olympics. I hope its more competitive. Jololov has good range and boxing ability. I always favor a slick boxer over a comer. ITs just alot easier to see mistakes and capitalize (souza vs khryzaniak) If torrez did win though, thats an amazing feat. Guy is a midget in that class. He could get face planted again. We will see.

I mean he could have a few pro fights sprinkled in those 3 years to blood him over the longer distance.

A silver is nothing to sneeze at but a silver and a gold would hasten his run to title contention after 2024.

As fun he would be in the pros, he wouldn't be long reigning champ with that style surely. If he even got to that stage.

marcial and khyzaniak fell in love with their mow a dude over style. Were too arrogant. Good lesson for both of them. 71-0 in last 71......thought he was god and god slapped him down. Simple, you dont want the fight stopped, dont get careless when you are up 2-0 and get ktfod. Use intelligence.

If torrez finds a way, i rank it above the souza victory because of physical attributes alone and him going to bed 2 years ago.
