I was reading some Wikipedia pages and found something:

In K-1 and most probably Kickboxing, the biggest size difference when a small guy KOed a big guy was on December 31, 2007, when the 5´10´´(178cm) Nicholas Pettas from Greece (fought for Danmark) KOed the 7´1 1/2´´(217cm) Younghyun Kim.

The size difference was 39 cm / 15.35 inches

Which is the all time record in Boxing?

I mean when a smaller guy KOs the bigger guy?

Valuev was not KOed by Chagaev or Haye so those matches dont count...

I don't know if this is the alltime record, but just recently Julius Long was knocked out by Hemi Ahio despite being 13 inches taller and 96 pounds heavier.

    Thx...that looks good.

I think 33 cm (13 inches) could be the all time record in Boxing. Its the same when in K-1 Mighty Mo (real name Siala-Mou Siligia) KOed Hongman Choi, there was also a 13 inches / 33 cm difference (Mo is 2 cm taller as Ahio, Choi is 2 cm taller as Long).

On September 3rd, 1892, Bob Fitzsimmons, at 160 pounds, knocked out Millard Zender, at 300 pounds, in the 1st round, in Anniston, Alabama, USA. That's a 140 pounds weight differential.

Had no idea Fitz ever fought in Anniston.

Did a quick bit of research: Anniston (originally Annie’s Town, named after the founder’s daughter) was an iron company town in the 1870s and before this fight became the first Alabama city lit with electricity.

Apparently in this period it got a reputation as a resort town (how I have no idea, you wouldn’t think it if you visited anytime in my lifetime … maybe just because it had electricity?) and a number of hotels cropped up.

Within a few years after this fight it got an Army camp which would later become Fort McClellan, and by WWII it was one of the largest Army bases in the U.S. It later become a major munitions depot and finally was decommissioned in the late 1990s.

For several years it hosted the Alabama Golden Gloves and fighters/trainers were able to stay on the base/campus in Quonset huts. It was pretty cool to go and affordable because of the free housing.

Thx so much for all of your replies!

    Only one thing:

The question is about the SIZE, not about the weight.

Its very interesting to see the weight differences too, but i am primary interested in the size to bring it in some Wikipedia articles (from Pettas for example, to make comparations to Boxing which is the record there).

It seems the 39 cm (15.3 inches) between Pettas and Kim could be an all time record for any full contact fight sport...at least for only standing because in MMA guys like "Minowaman" Ikuhisa Minowa (172cm/5´8´´) defated Choi (218cm/7´2´´) too.

It can happen, it's not just the size alone. I have seen smaller guys beat a taller fighter. The smaller have more balance, some taller guys are very clumsy. It is a matter of skill and desire.

Size should encompass height and weight.

A 6-foot-7 guy who weighs 155 pounds would not be “bigger than” a 6-foot-4, 250-pounder. He’d just be taller.

When you order a large soda, they don’t give you the same number of ounces in a taller, skinner cup than a small.
