Louis had more power than Valuev.

 

You didn't need to be particularly big to beat Valuev, or particularly mobile, or particularly good for that matter.

Ruslan Chagaev was 6' 1'', with a 74'' reach, and he basically beat Valuev by countering him with a straight right in the pocket.

There is a reason why he never fought anybody with a pulse, unless it was unavoidable.

 

Louis would land at will, he was far quicker than Valuev and would slip most of his shots, I don`t think Valuv could finish Louis if he hurt him.

Yes Valuev won, but Dominguez didn't seem to have much trouble reaching him.

Baer is laughably overrated. His skills are comical. Even Wilder looks slick next to him.

I think it would be a long shot but they might, if they used their feet well.

He's technically not a very good puncher. However he does land quite a bit and his sheer size means that his shots are solid. His jab is good and his chopping overhand right is nasty.

Yeah his skills are comical. It didn't stop him from beating all big opponents he ever faced and he faced plenty of them. Unless you believe that Valuev is much superior than them (and this would be quite a statement that would require some evidences), you have no argument here.

 

So you're asking whether Valuev is better than Carnera. Yes he is.

 

This is a good example of why the obsession with size on this forum is bordering on mania riggt now.

You have a guy who beat one world class opponent in his entire career.

And people are seriously speculating about him matching Joe Louis's resume, for no reason other than his size!

 

Not necessarily Carnera, Baer faced a lot of huge fighters.

Valuev isn't better than Carnera by the way - he's MUCH slower and less athletic, he had worse handspeed as well, he had worse jab and uppercut. He had better chin, so you could argue that he'd fare better against Baer than Carnera because of that but he's worse fighter than Primo (as weak Primo was).

 

Well- at 7ft2 Valuev has the highest leveraged of any HW champion.

 

It is hard to see on what basis you could possibly make this claim.
